Fleet Week in San Francisco - Boaters in San Francisco Bay had a real treat this weekend during Fleet Week. Fleet Week in San Francisco Bay by Photoren Fleet Week is a United States Navy, United States Marine Corps and United States Coast Guard tradition in which active military ships recently deployed in overseas operations dock in a variety of major cities for one week. Once the ships dock, the crews can enter the city and visit its tourist attractions. At certain hours, the public can take a guided tour of the ships…
What I love about The City - Everything. There must have been tens of thousands of people in San Francisco for Fleet Week and despite our aversion of crowds, Jimmy and I had such an amazing day. The weather couldn't have been better...70, sunny and clear. We've lived in the Bay Area for 15 years and this was the 1st time we've gone to see the Blue Angels show in San Francisco. The event started with their C130 "Fat Albert". This behemoth of a plane makes quite an entrance as it flew in from the Golden Gate Bridge...

Aero club Annual dinner.. from Flying for Dummies by Chris Nielsen - I should have blogged about this a bit earlier.. Naughty of me! - Anyway, we finally had our annual dinner, which was a roaring success, as usual.. Thanks to fellow blogger Rodney, we hooked up with Rob from the Thunder Mustang outfit.. He couldn't quite swing it to bring the plane down, but he still entertained us!! Brought his certificate from the FIA to prove they have the record for AA-CH, I think he said like 1 hr 45 or something stupidly quick like that! He gave us an interesting talk about the preparations for the record attempt then the actual attempt itself. Facinating stuff, he went down really well with our members.
