FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
‘Wings Over Wine Country 2008’ Air Show
Santa Rosa, Calif., August 1, 2008 – Come join the PACIFIC COAST AIR MUSEUM (PCAM) for a weekend of outstanding flying and fun in beautiful Northern California wine country at the annual “Wings Over Wine Country” Air Show, to be held August 16-17, 2008 at the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport in Santa Rosa, Calif. This year’s show will feature military jet demonstrations, precision aerobatic flying, vintage warbirds, static aircraft displays, aviation memorabilia and more. Among this year’s features are a beautifully restored airworthy P-38 and many other WWII warbirds in flight during the show. The P-38 will be available for up close inspection and photo opportunities at a special event Thursday, August 14. Call the Pacific Coast Air Museum for details.

The Air Force as Navy will provide exhibitions of the C-17 Globemaster III and the F/A-18 Super Hornet jet aircraft. The C-17 will be making its third appearance thanks to the C-17 Demonstration Team from the 452nd Air Mobility Wing from March Air Force Base. Navy Strike Fighter Squadron 122 Flying Eagles (VFA-122) based at NAS Lemoore, Calif. will demonstrate the capabilities of the F/A-18F Super Hornet. The Air Force is scheduled to provide U-2 (Saturday) and T-38 (Sunday) flybys as well.

An extensive world class aerobatic line-up includes Paul Lopez flying his MX-2, Jacquie Warda in her patriotic Pitts S-1T, Kent Pietsch with a lively routine in his 1942 Interstate Cadet and more. Special performances will be made by the Misty Blues all female parachute team, the USAF Reserve Jet Car, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s helicopter and the CDF firefighting demonstration team.

A special part of the Wings Over Wine Country air show each year is the presence of a dozen or more vintage warbirds that take flight. This year will be no exception with at least one P-38 Lightening, a B-25 Mitchell, more than a half dozen P-51 Mustangs and more expected this year. A portion of each air show will be dedicated to warbird flights. These aircraft provide nostalgic high speed passes and participate in a “Heritage Flights” with USAF aircraft and “Legacy Flights” with Navy aircraft to honor those who served in the United States Armed Forces.

Gates open both days at 9:00 a.m. for pre-show activities, including radio controlled model aircraft demonstrations. The main Air Show events kick off at 11:00 a.m. Discount advance tickets can be purchased at the Museum and Sonoma County Round Table Pizza locations. Tickets may be purchased at
www.WingsOverWineCountry.org. Convenience charges may apply.
