OSH '08 Redux -- The Torch Has Been Passed (Part I) from Pilots of America Message Board by Jay Honeck
This was to be the year of the great attendance crash at Oshkosh. With GA flying down 50% in many parts of the country, attendance at other major fly-ins down, and record gas prices, it was only natural to assume that Airventure attendance would plummet, too. Even Tom Poberezny referred to it in his introductory remarks on the first day of AirVenture.

So what does an aviation blogger do when he can’t go to the greatest aviation gathering in the world? (Sorry, had to work). Well, we’ve put together coverage from our favorite sites. For overall Oshkosh coverage, there is no better multimedia site than EAA’s Airventure site. Through the years, EAA has kicked up its
video coverage.

OSH pictures and videos from Pilots of America Message Board by TangoWhiskey
Thought I'd start a thread for us to share our pictures and video with each other and those that couldn't attend. I have video to edit, but here's my batch of photos:
http://picasaweb.google.com/troy.whi...Airventure2008 The most beautiful place on the field is off the field--the seaplane base is incredible. I have a series of photos (not in that link) that I took to "stitch" together to give the full perspective of the seaplane base. I also have video and audio of the entire arrival into OSH, and I believe Bill Williams does as well. I'll get that edited and loaded later. Many thanks to Kent for helping me not only FLY into OSH, but also serving as a terrific tour guide to an OSH newbie. I'll definitely be back. Hey, Bill, it was great to meet you and you owe me $5 for not posting the picture of you drooling on your pillow. :-)

Teenage Pilots Reach 70 Degrees North from AVwebFlash Current Issue
A group of young pilots flying a Cessna 172 in an international air rally last week flew beyond the Arctic Circle to the 70th parallel, as they wrapped up a 10-day, 3,500 nm journey across Canada. Camil Dumont Jr., 15, of Quebec; Martin Leroux-Dennebouy, 19, of France, and Michaelle Dumont, 17, of Quebec, were taking part in a rally organized by Aviation Connection, a not-for-profit group based in Quebec that promotes general aviation. The annual rally brings together pilots from North America, Europe, and South Africa for a 10-day journey, and helps them to build long-lasting relationships. The group also offers a pilot mentor program to help young pilots gain experience, and starting with next year's rally will sponsor young pilots with the help of Aviation Connection donors. About 20 airplanes took part in this year's event, ranging from a Cirrus SR22 to a PC12 to a C5 Citation jet. Next year's rally will also be held in Canada, with a route stretching from British Colombia to Newfoundland toMontreal,Quebec.
