Aerobatic Plane Lands in New Colt’s Stadium! – The IndyTransponder.com
INDIANAPOLIS – No Fire, No Emergency! The aircraft is actually the famous Lucas Oil Pitts that has performed at air shows and outdoor events around the country. The plane is part of the incredible showcase exhibit that makes up the lobby of the newly opened Lucas Oil Stadium. Other high performance machines lubed by Lucas Oil Products including dragsters, choppers, and race cars are also featured in the display. The Stadium is the home of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts Football Team as well as the host of the 2012 Super Bowl.
A newer version of the Modified Pitts flown by Aerobatic Champion Michael Wiskus is currently flying an aggressive schedule including the Indianapolis Air Show, August 22-24 at Mount Comfort Airport (MQJ) near Indianapolis.
While feasible that with a takeoff distance of 400 feet and the stadium’s retractable roof the plane could be flown out, it’s not likely. It will remain a visitor favorite inspiring dreams to fly for many years to come.
