"Wings Over Wine Country" Air Show Huge Success
The Pacific Coast Air Museum's annual "Wings Over Wine Country" Air Show, held August 16-17, 2008, at the Charles M. Schulz - Sonoma County Airport in Santa Rosa, CA, was a huge success.
Over 20,000 people visited the two day show, and were treated to the F-18 in transonic flight showing a huge shock wave, as well as the historic Lockheed P-38 Lightning and the U.S. Air Force's newest airlifter aircraft, the C-17 Globemaster III. Also highlighting this year's show and thrilling the crowd were Kent Pietsch doing his comedy act, deadstick routine and landing on top of a truck. Jacquie Warda was outstanding in her Pitts, as was Paul Lopez flying his MX-2. The Misty Blues all-female parachute team opened the show each day jumping with an American flag and jumping again later in the show. A large showing of warbirds thrilled the crowd as P-51 Mustangs, a P-40 Warhawk, a Hawker Sea Fury, T-6s and an F-4F brought back memories of aircraft that helped win WWII. The 2009 "Wings Over Wine Country" Air Show will take place August 15 & 16, 2009.
