WHEN THEY’RE NOT LOOKING TO THE SKIES, KIDS WILL FIND PLENTY OF FUN ON THE GROUND AT THIS WEEKEND’S INDIANAPOLIS AIR SHOW

(Indianapolis, Ind.) – The main attractions of the 12th Annual Indianapolis Air Show, Aug. 22-24, are generally found swooping, diving and whizzing overhead.

But in between the high-flying, eye-popping action this weekend, families will find many things on the ground for children to enjoy and remember for years to come.

Among the kid-friendly activities and exhibits you’ll find at Mt. Comfort Airport:
· Rock climbing walls
· Flight simulators
· “Kid Zone,” featuring inflatable slides and jumps
· Military History Encampment Museum
· World War II airplane tours
· Hot air balloon rides, as well as balloon launches and nighttime balloon “glows”
· United Way of Central Indiana-Hancock County’s “Buddy Bear,” promoting the Born Learning Trail
The 2008 Indianapolis Air Show kicks off this Friday, Aug. 22, with Marsh Media & Practice Day. Tickets for the practice day are just $5. Friday also features the first-ever Hoosier Park “Monte Carlo Night,” a charity gaming event that benefits Riley Hospital for Children. Tickets for Monte Carlo Night are $30.

On Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 23 and 24, the U.S. Air Force Air Combat Command F-22A Demonstration Team and the U.S. Army’s parachute team, the Golden Knights, will be the headlining performers.

Wing walkers, aerobatic pilots, Warbirds and additional military exhibits, such as the interactive Virtual Army Experience, will also be wowing the crowds on those dates. And just confirmed for Saturday, Aug. 23: country music recording artist Laura Bryna will wrap up the day with an outdoor concert.

Advance tickets to the Aug. 23 and 24 Air Show performances are available at a discount now by going to
www.indyairshow.com, or you can buy them at any Marsh, O’Malia’s or United Package Liquors stores. If you buy your tickets ahead of time, an adult ticket is $17 and a child’s (ages 6 to 12) is $8. The price increases to $20 and $10, respectively, at the gate. Active U.S. military personnel will be able to attend the Air Show for FREE with current military identification.

Net proceeds from the Indianapolis Air Show are distributed to the Central Indiana Community Foundation. The Indianapolis Air Show has donated more than $1.3 million through CICF to children’s charities since the show’s inception in 1997.
