Reel Stuff Aviation Resources LLC provides museums high-profile fundraising and PR opportunities through customized film festivals
Event consulting, creative services biz launched by film fest founder Ron Kaplan at Mutual Concerns of Air & Space Museums Conference
(Washington, D.C. – April 26, 2012) Ron Kaplan, creator of the critically acclaimed Reel Stuff Film Festival of Aviation, announced a new consulting business offering a full range of festival production and media support services to air and space museums as well as filmmakers. Reel Stuff Aviation Resources LLC and its website, www.reelstufffilmfest.com, were formally launched today at the opening of the 2012 Mutual Concerns of Air & Space Museums Conference, hosted by the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum April 26-29th.
Reel Stuff Aviation Resources LLC offers non-profit museums of any size an array of consulting packages enabling them to produce and promote their own Reel Stuff Film Festival of Aviation, be it a 1-day event or full 3-day weekend of theater screenings and activities. Reel Stuff is created around a customized lineup of aviation-centric films that each are screened by the writer, director, actor, aerial coordinator or someone else directly affiliated with the film's production. Each screening is then followed by a question-and-answer session with that film's presenter, offering festival patrons a personal "behind the scenes" perspective.
Kaplan's vast network of international filmmakers and cinema historians provides Reel Stuff clients a broad range of world-class projects from which to choose, typically a mix of classic films, contemporary features, documentaries, short subjects and broadcast productions. Often, projects seen at Reel Stuff have yet to be publicly screened anywhere else, sometimes presented at a "rough cut" stage of completion.
As a uniquely high-profile, mission-relevant festival experience, Reel Stuff is especially attractive to sponsors, donors and stakeholders, offering additional value as a fundraising auction, raffle or gala platform. Also serving as an arts and education program, a Reel Stuff Film Fest presents its host multiple opportunities to showcase the value of its organization to a wider community audience, plus benefit through attracting and collaborating with new partners such as colleges, media outlets and civic venues.
Dayton-based Kaplan is a noted aviation artist, writer and photographer, and both former Development and Executive Director at the non-profit National Aviation Hall of Fame. He founded and directed the inaugural "Reel Stuff Film Festival of Aviation" in 2008, successfully producing two more, in 2009 and 2010. Among the many acclaimed presenters at the initial Reel Stuff festivals were Academy Award-winning actor Cliff Robertson (633 Squadron, The Pilot), aerial cinematographer Clay Lacy (Top Gun, Fighter Pilot: Operation Red Flag), producer Catherine Wyler (Memphis Belle), and producer/director/writer Nikolai Muellerschoen (Der Rote Baron – its North American premier screened at the 2009 Reel Stuff).
Reel Stuff Aviation Resources LLC additionally offers entertainment professionals with creative and promotional support, project design development and script review, content research, and on-camera talent, among other aviation, non-profit, and media-related services and guidance.
