Dayton Air Show: Local Dayton Surgeon to Fly with Sean D. Tucker & Team Oracle


DAYTON, OH (June 17, 2013) – National Aviation Hall of Fame legend Sean D. Tucker and Team Oracle will take local Dayton surgeon, Dr. Jonathan M. Saxe, on Tucker’s 2013 “Legends” flight Thursday, June 20 at 9:00 a.m. at the Dayton International Airport in Vandalia, OH. The “Legends” flight opportunity exists to recognize a local “legend” at certain air shows where Tucker performs.

Tucker is internationally-known as the world’s premier civilian aviator and has received the highest awards in the industry including induction into the National Aviation Hall of Fame, the International Council of Air Shows Hall of Fame, the Living Legend Aviation Award, and many other awards and recognitions. Tucker has flown more than 1,100 performances at more than 450 air shows, in front of more than 100 million fans. Not only is Sean D. Tucker the leading aerobatic pilot in the world, he is also a larger than life character who touches the hearts of his fans and inspires millions of Americans. Sean is extremely passionate about sharing his love of aviation with air show fans. 

Dr. Jonathan M. Saxe is a local surgeon certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care primarily through the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH. Dr. Saxe is a member of numerous prestigious medical associations including the American College of Surgeons, American Association for the Surgery of Trauma and many more. He is currently on active status at the Miami Valley Hospital but is also on courtesy status at Good Samaritan Hospital and Health Center and the Kettering Medical Center where he performs surgery on a variety of patients from all ethnic, social and financial backgrounds.

Dr. Saxe spends a great deal of time training medical residents. Besides the necessary skills and practices he teaches residents compassion and good faith in taking care of patients as well.  He also does medical missionary work in underprivileged countries around the world such as South Africa, Sierra Leone, Togo, Guinea, Swaziland, Mongolia, Bangladesh and Ecuador.  Dr. Saxe set up a hospital in Togo and helped Sierra Leone establish medical standards for their country.  Dr. Saxe’s faith has a huge influence on his life.

Dr. Saxe has always had an outstanding love for aviation and Sean D. Tucker has been a long-time favorite of his.  "Flying has always been special to my family and an important part of our lives.  The opportunity to participate in an aerobatic flight is VERY special to me," said Dr. Saxe.
