Dayton, Ohio – An estimated 65,000 people attended the 37th annual Vectren Dayton Air Show Presented by Kroger held at Dayton International Airport this past weekend. Preliminary estimates indicate show attendance was only down about 15% as a result of the above average temperatures experienced throughout the region this last week. Despite warmer weather, show operations went smoothly with no major problems reported.
The tradition of aviation will continue in 2012 with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels performing at the 38th annual Vectren Dayton Air Show on July 7th and 8th. A new two-year scheduling policy makes the early announcement of the Blue’s performance for next year possible.
“First, I want to thank the spectators, sponsors and volunteers for making the 2011 Show a success,” stated Michael Emoff, Chairman of the United States Air & Trade Show Board of Trustees producers of the event. “In addition, I want to say how delighted we are to announce the Blue Angels for 2012. We’re looking forward to another great air show next year.”
Later this year, show officials will announce additional attractions that will appear in 2012. The popular chalet and Chairman’s Club programs are now on sale. Soon additional information on the 2012 show and ticketing will be available for viewing at www.daytonairshow.com.
Founded in 1975, the Vectren Dayton Air Show Presented by Kroger is one of America’s premier air shows. The Air Show showcases world-class aerobatic champions, military jet demonstrations and entertainment for the whole family celebrating Dayton’s aviation heritage as home of the Wright Brothers, National Museum of the US Air Force and Wright Patterson AFB.
