Show & Tell Takes Flight and Naval Aircraft Fly-In

Want to know more about your grandfather's Air Force uniform? Have photos of an aircraft you'd like to know more about? Bring your aviation- and space-themed antiques and artifacts and meet with an expert at the Museum's Show & Tell on Saturday, July 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please note that this event is for historical appraisals only. 

Bearcat and TigercatWe continue our celebration of the U.S. Naval Aviation centennial on Sunday, July 31, with a Grumman F8F Bearcat and Grumman F7F Tigercat fly-in and with U.S. Navy Rear Adm. James Kelly (Today's Naval Aviation) and historian Ted Young (U.S. Carrier Aviation in WWII.) Please visit our website  for more information on the program.

It's almost time for the annual Blue Angels visit! The Blues are scheduled to arrive mid-afternoon on August 2, with flights scheduled August 4 through 7. The flight schedule is included at the end of this newsletter.

In celebration of the Blue Angels visit, the Museum will open one hour earlier, 9 a.m., Friday, August 5 through Sunday, August 7. And don't forget to check out the Museum Store for great Blue Angels souvenirs!

Blackbird Pilot Brian Shul returns to the Museum August 5 through 7 for his popular "Sled Driver" program. Program begins at 2:30 p.m. each day in the William M. Allen Theater.

Show & Tell Takes Flight 
Saturday, July 30, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In this "Antiques Roadshow"-style event, the public is invited to bring their aviation-related antiques and artifacts to the Museum to have them identified and described by aerospace curators and experts. Free with admission to the Museum.
 
The Museum's 2011 celebration of the U.S. Navy's centennial of flight continues with vintage Naval aircraft fly-ins and two lectures throughout the day.

The Museum is again the Blue Angels' headquarters during the team's entire Seafair stay for the Boeing Air Show. 

Thursday, August 4, 5 to 9 p.m.
Once a month, the Museum stays open late--for free! Enjoy Museum exhibits and galleries from 5 to 9 p.m., courtesy of Wells Fargo.

Friday, August 5 through Sunday, August 7, 2:30 p.m., Allen Theater
Photographer, author, pilot and showman Brian Shul shares stories and photos from his experience as a "sled driver" -- an SR-71 Blackbird pilot.

Fallen Heroes Project with Artist Michael Reagan

Internationally recognized artist Michael Reagan will discuss his mission to produce a portrait of every man and woman to lose his or her life in the war on terror.

"Two Gold Coins and a Prayer" with Author James H. Keefe III Saturday, August 27, 2 p.m., Allen Theater
The eldest son of B-24 bomber pilot Lt. James Keefe, Jr., Keefe recounts his father's WWII experiences as a bomber pilot and POW.

Enjoy a picnic lunch as you watch the Blue Angels take off from our exclusive viewing area on the Museum Balcony!
