As noted in a feature article in the just released August, 2011 issue of "Air & Space Smithsonian" magazine, Patty Wagstaff is flying for Cal Fire again this summer. And this summer she is flying OV-10s out of the Santa Rosa, CA, Cal Fire Attack Base.
While only able to fly a few air shows this summer, Patty is going to fly a "sneak preview" performance of the "Wings Over Wine Country" Air Show each morning, August 20 and 21, before the show, and before she has to go to work at the Fire Attack Base. This will be a rare opportunity for northern California Air Show fans to see Patty Wagstaff, a six-time member of the US Aerobatic Team, who has won the gold, silver and bronze medals in Olympic-level international aerobatic competition and is the first woman to win the title of US National Aerobatic champion and one of the few people to win it three times. Patty flies one of the most thrilling, low-level aerobatic demonstrations in the world in her Extra 300S. Flying before millions of people each year, her breathtaking performances give airshow spectators a front-row seat view of the precision and complexity of modern, unlimited hard-core aerobatics. Her smooth aggressive style sets the standard for performers the world over.
And later in the show, if Cal Fire is called to respond, you may get to see Patty fly in her Cal Fire OV-10.
Other top performers at this year's "Wings Over Wine Country" Air Show include, Greg Poe, Team Rocket, Dan Buchanan, Tim Decker, Eddie Andreini, Vicky Benzing, Greg Colyer, P-51 Mustangs, USAF U-2, T-38, C-5, KC-10, C-17 and F-15 flybys, famous Air Show announcer Danny Clisham, a fabulous huge "Kid's World" and lots of static display aircraft to climb aboard.
