FOUNDATION CREATES “KYLE AND AMANDA FUND,” REQUESTS YOUR CONTRIBUTION - ICAS | As you have likely heard by now, Kyle and Amanda Franklin were involved in an accident at the Air Fiesta 2011 in Brownsville, Texas on Saturday, March 12. It now appears that Amanda’s injuries will require a difficult and potentially expensive recovery and rehabilitation process.
To help ensure that they are able to focus on the difficult challenges of healing rather than the financial challenges of that process, the ICAS Foundation has created a “Kyle and Amanda Fund.” Every penny donated to this fund will go directly to Amanda and Kyle. Cirrus Rides Jet Stream To Record from AVwebBiz Current Issue | Thanks to the jet stream and the Cirrus SR22T's ability to find it, the speed record between Ontario, Calif., and Phoenix was shattered in late December by Airshares Elite pilot Justin Beitler. The Cirrus caught a big kick from the shift in the jet stream to average 271.2 knots on the trip (normal cruise is about 170). The previous record was 207 knots in a Mooney M20K set by Lee White and Larry Randlett in 2000. "The XM weather system helped me find the best winds, and the efficient turbocharged engine allowed me to cruise on less than 17 gallons per hour at over 270 knots," said Beitler. "At that speed, our offices in L.A. and Phoenix are only an hour and eleven minutes apart." As the video Beitler prepared shows, the jet stream brought as many challenges as benefits.
