Sport Air Racing League Wraps Up 2010 Season
PLUGERVILLE, TX – DECEMBER 20, 2010 – LiveAirShowTV has posted the story about the Sport Air Racing League. Dubbed, “racing for the rest of us”, the league has just completed its 4th full season with the Rocket 100 in Taylor, TX.
LiveAirShowTV President Jeff Lee found out about the league in 2009 from a post on the Indy Transponder. “I went out to the Taylor airport to find out what the heck was going on”, said Lee. “What I found was a group of pilots who seemed to be a lot like the guys we covered in Reno. They enjoy being around each other, and flying is almost the excuse for them to get to do it.”
The 140nm course starts and ends at a grass strip called Macho Grande, just a couple of miles south of the Taylor Municipal Airport. Many of the pilots took advantage of that and flew a low pass for the start of the race. “I was positioned at the Start/Finish line”, said Lee. “My son CW2 Bryan Lee was at the turn at the Lake Granger Dam, and the CAF’s Jim Connors was at the Hutto water tower. That gave us a little more expanded look at the racers. We also had a camera in the cockpit of the T-28 and in Mike Thompson’s RV-6.”
Check out the complete story by going to the all new LiveAirShowTV website: Make sure you select the 720p (HD) option for best quality.
Up next: Go inside a Sikorsky UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter simulator at Fort Hood Texas. Chief Warrant Officer Bryan Lee takes us up in the mountains near Colorado Springs all without leaving central Texas. The first week of January, we’ll go back out to the Reno Air Races, and get the inside story from Will Whiteside, pilot of the P-51 Mustang Voodoo.
Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year from all of us at LiveAirShowTV!
