Air Show Report: D-Day Ohio 2013 - Warbirds News | D-Day Ohio, held annually in Conneaut, Ohio is fast becoming one of America’s premier living history events, featuring the most realistic and educational reenactment of the events of June 6th, 1944, D-Day. Since 1999, this annual recreation of the amphibious Allied landings upon the beaches of Normandy, France, has thrilled thousands of spectators. The event occurs within the grounds of Conneaut Township Park in Conneaut, Ohio, and assembles hundreds and hundreds of re-enactors from across the United States and Canada, who storm ashore from Lake Erie onto a beach and surrounding terrain that bears a remarkable resemblance to Omaha Beach in Normandy, France....

Copperstate Fly-In to Operate Non-Towered - EAA - The Experimental Aircraft Association |August 21, 2013 - For the first time in its 40-year history, Arizona's Copperstate Fly-In will operate on an uncontrolled airport due to recent actions by the FAA. The organization made the decision after weighing all options and ensuring safety would not be jeopardized. Not only was Copperstate told it would have to pay for previously provided ATC salaries, overtime, and travel expenses, as was the case at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, but the FAA also deemed the military surplus control tower that Copperstate has used for the past 10 years "unsuitable for control use."...

(Aug 28 - Sept 2, 2013) - AirPigz | I was at the 2012 Antique Airplane Association fly-in last year near Blakesburg Iowa... it was the first time I had been there since I was a kid. This fabulous video is from Thursday evening during the event (I didn't get there until Saturday) and it shows you everything you need to know about why I love the AAA fly-in! I was only there two days, but it was a great experience making the journey back in time where the airplanes were far more beautiful and being alive seemed to have more purpose. I even got some pix of that gorgeous Ryan SC-W, which, by the way, is owned and flown by Russell Williams who maintains the AAA AntiqueAirfield website...
