ABLE FLIGHT PILOTS GET WINGS!
Six new pilots were honored at a ceremony at EAA AirVenture on July 30th.  They received their Able Flight pilot wings as friends, parents, Able Flight sponsors and guests looked on. Dennis Akins, Young Choi, Warren Cleary, Deirdre Dacey, Lt. Andrew Kinard and Stephany Glassing were honored for their hard work and success during their training. All but Glassing trained at the Able Flight/Purdue University annual program in May and June.
Special thanks to guests Patty Wagstaff who pinned wings on Dacey and Glassing, AOPA President Craig Fuller who was on hand to pin wings on Lt. Kinard, selected as the first recipient of the AOPA/Able Flight Scholarship, and to Matt Brandon of Bombardier who pinned wings on Warren Cleary, the 2013 recipient of the Bombardier/Able Flight Scholarship. And thanks to Sennheiser Aviation for their generous donation of a new headset to each of the pilots.

AF Flight Instructor of the Year
(L-R) Bernie Wulle, Nick Losande, Charles Stites
PURDUE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR HONORED AS ABLE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR
Not only did Nick Losande train Warren Cleary for his successful check ride as a Sport Pilot, since Cleary had a 3rd class medical certificate, Losande prepared him for a successful Private Pilot checkride as well.
When student pilot Deirdre Dacey needed extra flight time to prepare for her check ride, and her scheduled instructor had to leave for a job, Losande passed on summer vacation with family and friends to stay  to help Dacey. That led to her successful check ride, for a total of three checkrides in just a few weeks for this rising senior in Purdue's Department of Aviation Technology.
Also training students for Able Flight this year  at Purdue were Tim Gleeson, Jared Kuhn, Abe McCollough and Matt Paczolt.
