Video: BD-5 "Smallest Jet" Flies At AirVenture - AVweb | Justin Lewis, a former F-14 and A-10 driver, has updated his homebuilt BD-5 with the help of FLSMicrojet. He was invited to perform at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2013 and, with sponsorship from US Fleet Tracking, brought "the world's smallest jet" back to...
OSH13: A Trip To The Seaplane Base (Wednesday 7.31.13 - 6 Pix) - AirPigz | In addition to being all over Wittman Field on Wednesday, I also joined three other avgeeks staying at CampBacon for the short drive over to the seaplane base. Whether you spend just an hour or all day at the base, it's definitely a must-see experience while at Oshkosh. The beautiful setting and calming environment is the perfect way to re-charge your batteries. And if you take the free (donations requested) pontoon boat ride around the moored seaplanes you'll feel connected to the general awesomeness that is airplanes-on-water. I love the seaplane base!...

Flying car wows EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh - USA TODAY | If you're going to show off your flying car to keep enthusiasm going for the idea, you'd be hard pressed to find a better place than the EAA AirVenture fly-in in Oshkosh, Wis. this week. Terrafugia's Transition "roadable" aircraft is making test ...
Chicago Air and Water Show - Time Out Chicago | Chicago Air and Water Show regulars will no doubt notice something missing this year: the sonic boom and lightning-quick moves of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. The precision demonstration team—a perrenial favorite of the Chicago Air Show, which takes flight August 13–14, 10am–3pm, off of North Avenue Beach—won't perform due to the sequestration, the federal budget cuts that went into effect in April. (Traditionally, the Thunderbirds trade headlining duties with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.) The scarcity of Top Gun trickery notwithstanding, the lineup of the...
'NW Classic' at Air Museum Aug. 3 - Tillamook Headlight Herald | The ninth annual Northwest Classic, featuring automobiles, motorcycles and airplanes from the 1920s to present day, happens at the Tillamook Air Museum Saturday, August 3, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Air Museum. It’s billed as a “cruise-in/fly-in” (the planes are the ones that will be flying in). Some of the show vehicles arrive under their own power, Gundling said; others are trailered in. “We’ll have half the blimp hangar filled with cars,” he said. If the weather’s good, the planes will be outside. “We’ll give aircraft rides as well,” he said...
Snowbirds wow big crowd at city waterfront; Thursday Morning Pictorial - Nanaimo Daily News | The Canadian Forces' Snowbirds Demonstration Team were in fine form Wednesday afternoon, twirling and diving high above the heads of hundreds of spectators who jammed into Maffeo Sutton Park. Yesterday's show marks the first time the squadron has visited the Harbour City since 2009. Team members landed in Nanaimo on Tuesday for a meetand-greet session with kids and parents...
Red Arrows set to wow Hunstanton Kite Fair with a flypast - Lynn News | Visitors to Hunstanton’s annual kite fair and classic car rally will need to keep their eyes on the skies as well as on the ground at this year’s event. Organisers have announced that the legendary Red Arrows flight display team will perform a fly past at this year’s event, which takes place on Sunday, August 18. And a Battle of Britain Hurricane plane will also fly over the show field at the town’s Smithdon High School during the day....

A tribute to a warrior, patriot and hero to all Airmen - Official Site of the U.S. Air Force Top Stories by Gen. Mark A. Welsh III, U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff | 8/1/2013 - WASHINGTON (AFNS) -- I am the very proud son of an American fighter pilot, one of that treasured group who served in three wars, built an Air Force, and gave it an enduring example of courage and mission success. My dad was a hero. As a young man, I asked him who his combat heroes were; he gave me only two names. One was Major General Frederick "Boots" Blesse and the other was Colonel George E. "Bud" Day. My dad was not easily impressed, so I knew that if they were his heroes, they were very, very special men. I was right. ...
