MORE SURPRISES FROM COSFORD AIR SHOW

With only a few days to go until the West Midlands biggest aviation event the show organisers still have some surprises in store for visitors.

Last week the news broke that we could expect a Jaguar to taxi and now we hear that there will be a flypast from a Royal Air Force VC10 at the show on Sunday 17th June.  The RAF will not be operating the VC10 after 2013 so this is almost the last opportunity to see its appearance in the West Midlands.  There are plans to eventually bring one to become a permanent exhibit in the RAF Museum so perhaps the pilot will take the opportunity to size up the Cosford runway ready for the final landing next year.  The VC10 first saw operations with the RAF in 1966 and there will be many people delighted to get the opportunity to acknowledge her many years of service before the fleet is finally laid up.

It has already been publicised that the Belgian Air Force will be appearing in the flying display with their Agusta109 helicopter and today another surprise announcement  revealed that the French Air Force will also be appearing with a C160 Transall.  The C160 will be on display to the public in the static aircraft area and will be the largest aircraft on the ground.

With the weather promising to be better than last year’s disappointing downpour and plenty of indoor exhibitions and displays, these latest announcements mean that the Cosford Air Show is set to be one of the most exciting shows for several years and is sure to bring in the crowds.
