Misty Blues features announced

Dayton, Ohio – Today US Navy Blue Angel #7 Lt. Mark Tedrow and #8 LCDR Todd Royles flew to Dayton in a team Boeing F/A-18 Hornet to meet with show officials on the 2012 Vectren Dayton Air Show Presented by Kroger. The 38th annual show, to be held on July 7th and 8th at the Dayton International Airport, is one of 35 show sites selected by the famed Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Squadron for a 2012 performance.

Last appearing in Dayton in 2010, the Blues have been thrilling audiences for over 60 years. The team flies six powerful Boeing F/A-18 Hornets during their tightly choreographed, high-energy demonstration – sometimes flying as little as 18 inches apart. The 110-member Squadron is led by Blue Angel #1 Captain Greg “Boss” McWherter. Forty-five members of the team will travel to Dayton to stage the show in July. Hosting the Blues while in Dayton is GE Aviation Systems of Vandalia, Ohio.

In a press conference today show officials announced three top civilian feature attractions that will be joining the Blues:

Acclaimed aerobatic pilot Michael Goulian will deliver an edgy, aggressive, all-out performance choreographed to high tech music in his custom-built premier Extra 330SC aircraft. Michael is the recipient of many of the air show industry's highest honors for showmanship. He represented the USA in the prestigious Red Bull Air Race World Championships. Goulian last appeared in Dayton in 2000, and his dynamic performance is sure to thrill show spectators.

TORA TORA TORA will make a return visit to Dayton in 2012 with the emotional reenactment of the December 7, 1941 bombing of Pearl Harbor. This Commemorative Air Force production features eight Japanese replica fighter/bomber aircraft with spectacular pyrotechnics simulating bombing runs. It is truly a living history lesson concluding with President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's memorable address to the nation. A crowd favorite, Tora is a phenomenal presentation that will be enjoyed by young and old alike.

Jumping with their massive 40-foot American flag during the National Anthem, members of the Misty Blues All-Woman Skydiving Team will open the 2012 show. The full team will also perform later in the show as a feature attraction. Adorned in their signature pink and blue jump suits, the Misty’s are well-known for their skilled skydiving, fun personality and spending a lot of time meeting spectators – especially kids. These ladies hold 35 world records and have completed a record 40,000 jumps.

“The 2012 show development is going extremely well,” stated Michael Emoff, Chairman of the United States Air & Trade Show Board of Trustees, producers of the event. “We are not only fortunate to have been selected for a Blue Angel performance, but we have also been successful in securing other top attractions as well. What we are announcing today is a great beginning to what will be an awesome lineup. More attractions will be added in the weeks ahead,” he added.

Show officials also commented the 2012 show dates of July 7th and 8th, which are right after the patriotic 4th of July holiday. This will provide spectators with a unique opportunity to meet and thank the men and women of our armed forces during this very special holiday in our nation. In total over 300 active-duty military personnel will be on the show grounds proudly displaying their aircraft and equipment used in defending our nation’s freedom.

The Vectren Dayton Air Show Presented by Kroger also announced that ticket prices will remain unchanged from 2011.
