Look Behind The Scenes at Disney’s Planes – Voice Acting | Previously here at GeekDad, we have seen behind the scenes of the Computer Animation department and the Storyboard Art. Now we are going to fast forward a bit to the Vocal Track Recording. This is where the voice actor celebrities come into the studio and literally give a voice to our animated friends. For this adventure, I had a chance to go in and voice over a section of film previously voiced by Dane Cook, who voices the plane Dusty. To make this happen, I worked with Planes Casting Director Jason Henkel and Sound Engineer George Thompson. They showed me that the actor goes into the sound booth and watches sections of the film and then talks. Sounds easy right?...

Disney’s Planes Recording Studio Feeling like a Star | Have you been following along on my Disney’s Planes Event Experience? I had so much fun at my time in LA absorbing all things Disney. This experience was perhaps one of the funnest, coolest experiences and I’m so excited to share it with you. Disney’s Planes Recording Studio experience In small groups, we all got to go into the Disney’s Planes Recording Studio. We were welcomed by sound engineer George Thompson and Casting Director Jason Henkel. They were so amazing to work with. Doing a voice over was a bit nerve wracking but they made it all a breeze...

My Shining Role as Dottie in Disney’s Planes | ...My passion for film began long before this blog was even a notion. I was the young girl who couldn’t wait until opening day to see the latest film…alone. Many people wouldn’t dream of going to the theater alone, but I relish the opportunity to sit for 2 hours immersed in a film’s stories and worlds. Interestingly enough, I find the “backstory” to be even more intriguing…the research and thought that go into the story (script)…the actual process of shooting the film including the set, effects, sound, lighting, costumes… Perhaps that is why I get excited every single time I’m invited to cover a press junket. To have 10-20 minutes to pick the director’s brain, for example, is priceless...

Voice Acting in Disney’s Planes #DisneyPlanes | ast month I had the unbelievable opportunity of visiting DisneyToon Studios to get a sneak peek at Disney’s upcoming film Planes. I had the chance to interview a Disney animator and watch and draw a character with a Disney story artist. Then, I actually was able to get into the sound booth and learn how to voice an animated character – and it was so nerve-wracking!...

A peek inside Disney’s Planes recording booth | I had so much fun learning about Disney’s Planes last month during my visit to DisneyToon Studios with 24 other bloggers. Our day was filled with so many fun activities, from a story artist demonstration, to interviews, we even got to meet an animator and play with his computer; we did it all. During the #DisneyPlanesEvent, we were each able to get into the recording booth, one by one. It’s the same recording booth where the professional actors recorded their voices for the film. How cool is that?! A peek inside Disney’s Planes recording booth, with yours truly behind the mic...
