Airventure 2013: Saturday

Oshkosh 2013 - Saturday Airshow Highlights - LiveAirShowTV | Highlights from Saturday's airshow at AirVenture Oshkosh!

Disney's 'Planes' debuts to thousands at AirVenture - AOPA Pilot | Thousands of children and adults lined up in advance of the free 8:30 p.m. showing, some arriving as early as 2 p.m. Space in the best viewing area filled up before the movie began, forcing EAA AirVenture volunteers to turn away viewers or re-direct...

The Aero Experience at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2013: Exhibits and Airshow Performers - The Aero Experience | The Aero Experience has spent a week at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, and we have lots of stories to share with our audience over the next 12 months before the next season begins. We have canvassed the grounds, met many interesting people, and seen many unusual aircraft. Here are a few glimpses of the exhibits and airshow performers we saw in the last few days. Special thanks to Air Associates of Missouri and Air Associates of Kansas for sponsoring The Aero Experience at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2013...

Video: Plane Pulled From Lake Michigan Showcased at Airventure - WGBA-TV | OSHKOSH -- While taking a stroll at EAA Airventure in Oshkosh, you'll see a lot of newly-restored Warbirds

Chipmunk is the 'Poor Man's Spitfire' By Frederick A. Johnsen | August 3, 2013 - Pilot Richard Wilsher calls the postwar de Havilland Chipmunk trainer "the poor man's Spitfire." Beyond its tailwheel stance and British Commonwealth Canadian pedigree, the Chipmunk is said to be very responsive, like the Spitfire, according to pilots fortunate to have flown them both.

Howard is a Head Turner By Randy Dufault | It was apparent to the vintage aircraft community that Roger Brown was not an experienced aircraft restorer. "I have a ratty old Stearman," Brown said. "I go to [the National Stearman Fly-In at] Galesburg with it every year. Four of the five last years it was voted the airplane most in need of restoration."

Steve Hinton: Master Warbird Pilot By Frederick A. Johnsen | August 2, 2013 - Steve Hinton doesn't know offhand how many warbird types he's flown, but he's made more than 100 post-restoration first flights. If that sounds nonchalant, it's an indicator of Steve's down-to-earth outlook.

OSH13: CoolPix - James Redmon And His Fabulous Berkut (Friday 8.2.13) - AirPigz | This Berkut is also known as race #13 and competes in events run by the Sport Air Racing League (SARL) - this design has been tweaked to be able to compete at over 250 mph... and to look really good while doing it! I'm planning a more in-depth post in the future with lots of up-close detail pix, but for now I hope you enjoy this wide-angle CoolPix from under the Berkut that shows James enjoying OSH13 : )
