The Boneyards & A-10
|
Camera Operator Devin Lund filming in a row of C-5s |
The end of February marked a week long filming trip to Arizona where the crew had the chance to spend two days at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson. There they filmed two segments, one of which was at the Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG, also known as the Aircraft 'Boneyard'). Crew members received a "boots on the ground" tour that will be coming to your TV screens in Season 4!

A-10 at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base

The A-10 Thunderbolt II (nicknamed the Warthog) is going to be featured in Season 4 as well. We spent the day with this unique aircraft and its pilots and maintainers. You might even see the 30 mm GAU-8/A Avenger gun outside of the aircraft! Click the photos to see pictures from our time filming at Davis-Monthan AFB.

By Request: The SR-71
Kurtis interviews Author and SR-71 Pilot Terry Pappas
The SR-71 has been one of the most requested aircraft for The Aviators to do a segment about... so we did! While in Arizona, Kurtis and the The Aviators crew went to the Pima Air and Space Museum to film the SR-71 and interview SR-71 Pilot and Author Terry Pappas. We learned about Terry's time flying the strategic reconnaissance aircraft at mach 3, something that only he and 85 others have had a chance to do. Click the picture to see more photos during our time with Terry and the SR-71.

B-17 Flying Fortress
The Commemorative Air Force has always been a great organization to work with and for Season 4 its no exception. This time around we flew in "Sentimental Journey," the B-17 stationed in Mesa, AZ at the Arizona Wing of the Commemorative Air Force. Be sure to watch this fall for the finished segment. Click the picture for more photos from the shoot.
