Governor Proclaims June Aviation Appreciation Month in Nevada

May 3, 2012.  Minden, Nevada.  Governor Sandoval recognizes the important role that aviation as a whole plays in the economy of our State, Minden-Tahoe Airport is pleased to report that the Governor has proclaimed June 2012 as AVIATION APPRECIATION MONTH IN NEVADA.

A recent report prepared for the Airports Council International-North America says Nevada airports are better economic drivers than those in nearly every other state in the country.  Nevada was ninth on the 50-state list with an economic output of $40.5 billion and more than 314,000 jobs with an annual payroll in excess of $11.8 billion. On average that is $8.5 million per each of Nevada’s 47 airports making Nevada second only to Georgia, which is home to the world’s busiest airport in Atlanta. (note: Minden-Tahoe Airport generates an economic impact to the region in excess of $30 million)

The continued vitality of aviation, aerospace, aircraft manufacturing, educational institutions and aviation organizations is important to the daily functioning of our society and the aviation industry continues to play a vital role in the economic and social well being of the State of Nevada.
