Two Electrifying Civilian Performers Added to the 2011 Vectren Dayton Air Show

Dayton, OhioVectren Dayton Air Show Presented by Kroger officials announced today the addition of Melissa Pemberton Aerobatics and School Time Jet-Powered School Bus to the 2011 show, which will be held on July 23rd and 24th.  These exciting performers join an impressive lineup headlined by the US Air Force Thunderbirds.  The 37th annual show will be held at the Dayton International Airport.

Making her Dayton debut in her Edge 540 aircraft, Melissa Pemberton will delight Air Show spectators with her high-energy and action-packed aerobatic routine.  Only 25-years-old, Melissa has been turning heads on the air show circuit.  At age 22 she was the youngest female ever to make the U.S. Unlimited Aerobatic Team.  Pemberton has been flying aerobatics since she was 17 and competing since she was 19.  Her name may sound familiar to Dayton fans as Melissa will also pilot the Stearman aircraft in the new wing-walk routine called Tombstone Riders, which was previously announced in December.

After an impressive first-time appearance in 2010, School Time Jet-Powered School Bus is returning to thrill Vectren Dayton Air Show spectators with its explosive show.  At 10-feet tall and
35-feet long, School Time is the world’s largest jet vehicle.  Equipped with a 42,000 horsepower General Electric J-79 engine straight out of an F-4 Phantom fighter jet, this bus will race down the runway at speeds topping 350 mph.  Completing the dramatic performance will be 75-foot flames streaking out the back as School Time roars in front of amazed spectators.  Paul Stender of Indianapolis, Indiana, a self-acclaimed adrenaline junkie with a long history of motorsport racing, is the creator and driver of School Time.

“We’re pleased to add these entertaining performers,” said Michael Emoff, Chairman of the United States Air & Trade Show Board of Trustees, producers of the show.  “The 2011 line-up is impressive, and we still plan to add more attractions,” Emoff added.

Two weeks ago the show announced the additions of the US Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II and the C-17 Globemaster Demonstrations.  The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will have top billing at the Vectren Dayton Air Show along with first time appearances by the Red Bull Helicopter flown by Chuck Aaron along with industry first, an all-women wing walking routine called Tombstone Riders.  Rounding out the line-up will be crowd favorite, Tora Tora Tora, an eight-plane emotional reenactment of the bombing of Pearl Harbor complete with pyrotechnics, the all-American US Army Golden Knight Parachute Team, and air show legendary pilot Sean D. Tucker.

A variety of ticket packages are on sale through the show’s web site, www.daytonairshow.com.  Popular areas such as the Blue Sky Chalet and LaRosa’s Pavilion are sure to be sell outs.  Families will also enjoy the superb value of the PNC Family 4-Pack.  Visit the show’s website for further information.
