AAA Chapter At Flabob  from Pacific Flyer | Antique Airplane owners have a new organization they can affiliate with at Flabob Airport.  Flabob Airport is home to the newest chapter of the Antique Airplane Association, which is also one of the oldest chapters.  It is a revival of the "Riverside Valley Chapter," formed in the 1960s but long dormant. Two of the charter members, Ray Stits and Bill Hill, are still active at Flabob and in the new-old chapter.

Student A&Ps Graduate At Old Air Base  from Pacific Flyer | Forty-three student aircraft mechanics attending the Southern California Logistics Airport School of Aviation Technology, located at the former George Air Force Base near Victorville, CA recently graduated with full certification in general aviation, powerplant and airframe maintenance.  Their diplomas paid off as the vast majority landed jobs almost immediately, a spokesman said. The one of a kind Plane Boat – Cosmic Muffin  from Aviation Humor | This unique vessel is a late ’30′s Boeing 307 Stratoliner joined to a planing boat hull.  Once owned by Howard Hughes as one of the first executive planes, the Stratoliner was damaged in a 1964 hurricane ending it’s flying days. A new owner trucked the plane body to Fort Lauderdale where he launched the Plane Boat in 1974. The fully restored and functional boat planed at over 20 knots and was controlled from the main cockpit using the original flight controls.   “Cosmic Muffin” came to the attention of Jimmy Buffett and was written into his first novel, “Where is Joe Merchant?” and also the song, Desdemona’s Building A Rocketship”.
