2010 Indianapolis Air Show takes to the skies June 11-13

Summer’s best family entertainment features legendary military planes, flying circus, aerobatic pilots and even Zhu Zhu pets

(Indianapolis, Ind.) – You know summer has begun when the Indianapolis Air Show is finalizing its plans for the season’s best family entertainment.

This year’s air show, set for June 11-13 at Mt. Comfort Airport, will have something for everyone.  From historic planes and a U.S.S. Indianapolis exhibit that grandparents might enjoy, to a flying circus and Zhu Zhu Pets for the little ones, to military demonstration teams and wingwalkers that thrill air show-goers of all ages, the event will be jam-packed with affordable fun.

Among the main attractions at the 14th annual air show, which raises money for children’s charities through the Central Indiana Community Foundation, is the Horsemen Aerobatic Team, the world’s only team that flies three authentic P-51 Mustang fighter planes that served in World War II and changed the course of history.  Additional military performers include the United States Air Force A-10 – the “Thunderbolt II” – and the United States Navy F/A-18 E/F, also known as the “Super Hornets.”

Red Bull Air Race Champion Michael Goulian and his Extra300SHP are on this list of exciting civilian performances for this year.  John Klatt will be soaring fast and furious in his Staudacher S-300D.  There will be “Magic in the Air,” thanks to Red Eagle Air Sports.  Bill Braack’s Smoke ‘N’ Thunder Jet Truck, Billy Werth and the Pitts S2C presented by Grayout Aerosports, and Kent Pietsch sponsored by Jelly Belly, will be wowing the crowds, too.

Also taking off from the Indianapolis Air Show next month will be Franklin’s Flying Circus, comedic performers that include the first father-son wingwalking team.  A first-time appearance by the Zhu Zhu Pet Universe Exhibit will draw kids and their families from near and far.  Located in the Marsh Kid’s Zone, this exhibit will feature the popular hamster toys zipping around in cars, spinning down slides and tackling other unexpected feats.

Advance air show tickets are available online now at www.indyairshow.com and at Marsh, O’Malia’s and United Package Liquors stores.  Friday, June 11, is “Media and Practice Day,” and tickets are just $5.  For Saturday, June 12, and Sunday, June 13, advance tickets are $17 for adults and $8 for children.  Tickets bought at the gate those days will be $20 and $10, respectively.

Active duty members of the U.S. military may attend the air show for free by showing their military ID.
