2008 Vectren Dayton Air Show Lineup

Dayton, Ohio – Today Air Show officials announced the addition of three impressive military demonstrations to round out an already stellar lineup at the 2008 Vectren Dayton Air Show presented by Kroger on July 19 and 20 at the Dayton International Airport. The new additions include an Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon Demonstration along with a rare Air Force C-17 demonstration. Also, another first for the Dayton show will be a U.S. - Army 3-ship Apache Demonstration.

Air Combat Command of Langley Air Force Base, Virginia confirmed that along with Dayton’s first-ever demonstration of the incredible F-22 Raptor, the Vectren Dayton Air Show will also host an F-16 Fighting Falcon demonstration. Hosted by Goodrich’s Wheels and Brake plant in Troy, Ohio, the Viper East Team from Shaw AFB, South Carolina will appear in Dayton with Captain George “Dog” Clifford at the controls. The combat proven F-16 is a multi-role fighter and a major component of the combat forces committed to the Global War on Terrorism. With the addition of the F-16 demonstration, the Heritage Flight at this year’s show will now include the F-22 Raptor, F-16 Fighting Falcon and the WWII era P-51 Mustang, “Hurry Home Honey,” flown by Mr. Bradley Hood.

The C-17 Globemaster III, the newest, most flexible cargo aircraft in the Air Force will provide a rare demonstration for air show spectators in Dayton this year. This massive aircraft is nearly 200 feet long and 55 feet high and has a maximum gross takeoff weight of 585,000 pounds. The versatile aircraft can perform tactical airlift and airdrop missions and can also transport litters and ambulatory patients during aeromedical evacuations when required. Hosted by Boeing, the C-17 aircraft at the show hails from the 97th Air Mobility Wing at Altus AFB, Oklahoma.

Rounding out the list of newcomers to the Air Show lineup will be a U.S. Army Reserve 3-ship AH-64D Apache Longbow Attack Helicopter Demonstration, a first for the Vectren Dayton Air Show. Hosted by Lord Corporation’s Dayton office, the Apache Team are members of the 8th Battalion 229th Aviation Regiment from Ft. Knox, Kentucky, which is nicknamed the Flying Tigers. The impressive Apache Demonstration will showcase the abilities of the world’s most capable multi-role combat helicopter.

“At our March press conference we hinted that we would be making an additional announcement on the show lineup,” said Michael Emoff, Chairman of the USATS Board of Trustees, producers of the event. “After hearing these incredible additions today, I think everyone will agree we have a blockbuster show. It seems clear that the 2008 show will be a must see,” he added.

The Vectren Dayton Air Show presented by Kroger previously announced that ticket prices will remain the same in 2008. The value-priced Family 4 Pack providing a 40% savings will again be offered. The Pack along with General Admission tickets and the popular Pavilion and Blue Sky premium seating are now on sale on the show’s website at

www.daytonairshow.com. Beginning June 9th, discount tickets will be conveniently available exclusively at Kroger stores in the Dayton-Cincinnati region. Also on sale now are chalet and Chairman’s Club premium seating packages.
