Reno Air Races feature plenty of thrills and some local faces By Dave Horn | This is they year to go to the Reno Air Races, which run through Sept. 14 at the Stead Airport in Reno, Nev. The races are a one-of-a-kind event. There are military and civilian static displays of historic aircraft to rival any airshow, great airshow acts like the "Patriot" jet team, and several classes of racing each day. There will be races with home built aircraft, World War II AT-6 trainers, World War II era fighter planes (the Unlimited class) and a Jet class, each with several aircraft racing around pylons just above the ground in full view of the stands....
