Hold on to Your Hat! The California Capital Airshow Opens Its Gates This Weekend

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – September 4, 2013 - The California Capital Airshow (CCA), presented by Sacramento County, will open its gates this weekend with a heart-pounding lineup of performances and entertainment for the whole family. The Airshow, September 6-7, 2014, at Mather Airport, welcomes back the United States military with single-ship demonstrations by the United States Air http://www.californiacapitalairshow.com/Force F-22 Raptor Demonstration Team and the United States Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier Jump Jet, world-class aerobatics, parachute demonstrations, wing walking, pyrotechnics and miles of interactive displays and entertainment along the ramp.

While entertainment in the sky is endless, it only continues on the ramp. Aerojet Rocketdyne’s Space and Aviation LaunchPad 2.0 returns to dazzle, amaze and encourage interests of young adults and their involvement in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) related fields. The Kid’s Zone and SAFE Credit Union’s DREAM BIG Pavilion returns with even more interactive and educational fun this year!

The Show also showcases 'Stars & Stripes Forever’, a salute to veterans and the Greatest Generation. Attendees can step back in time with an authentic theatrical production featuring professional military re-enactors, a parade of vintage warbirds, tanks, live USO-style music, costumes and pyrotechnics. 2014 is the 70th anniversary of the D-Day Invasion and this colorful, emotional tribute is a fitting way to honor one of the most important events of the 20th century, while showing gratitude to the men and women who serve and sacrifice in order to provide the freedoms we all enjoy today.
Get your groove on as Battle of the Bands spices up the tarmac. Take a Selfie with your favorite performers at the Autograph Tent. And of course, don’t forget Warbirds galore! With over 40 wabirds on site to marvel, these timeless aircraft represent the great history of aviation, provide a walk down memory lane or the perfect photo op. The California Capital Airshow is a highly respected and anticipated event for fans all over the world, don’t miss out on your chance to join the fun!

“The whole family can enjoy a weekend filled with thrilling performances, and hands-on interactive exhibits that let the imagination run wild,” said Darcy Brewer, executive director of the California Capital Airshow.  “The CCA team and our dedicated volunteers have worked tirelessly to bring Sacramento the best of aviation and endless entertainment, both fun and educational. We have planned an unforgettable show, and we are excited to spend the weekend surrounded by our fans and aviation enthusiasts alike.”

A weekend at the Airshow provides families with a greater return on investment value than most theme parks and sporting events in our region. With an Airshow ticket, fans are provided seven and a half hours of family entertainment for $20.00 or less per person.  If you plan ahead, a family of four can purchase our Family Four Pack for just $50.00! Where else can you purchase family entertainment for that many hours? And once inside the gates, you’ll be amazed at the abundance of entertainment on the ground and in the sky!

Bring your sunscreen, hats, and comfortable shoes, because the Airshow is ready for takeoff! Gates open Saturday and Sunday at 9:00 a.m. and close at 4:30 p.m. each day. The much-anticipated show features jaw-dropping aerobatics, stomach-churning aerial jumps, and gravity defying routines that will leave you speechless, and of course wanting more!
