Hiller Happenings January 2009

Open Cockpit Day & The Flight Sim Zone

Saturday January 10, 11a.m.-3p.m.

Open Cockpit Day

What can be more fascinating than sitting in the cockpit of a modern airliner or a jet? The Hiller Aviation Museum is unique in regularly providing access for visitors to real aircraft cockpits like an A-4 jet trainer, a Hiller H-12 helicopter and our Boeing 747 airliner. On January 10, we will swing open additional cockpits including our Boeing 737 airliner, the Boeing SST, BD-5T Turbo Prop (the world's smallest turboprop airplane!) and the Cessna 177 Cardinal. From general aviation piston aircraft to commercial airliners, you will get a real "hands-on" experience and unique perspective on flying from real pilots and airline captains.

Flight Sim Zone (11am-2pm)

Immerse yourself in the excitement of aviation in our detailed simulation experience:  the Flight Sim Zone.   Discover how airplanes move in three-dimensions with your hands at the controls.   Take a virtual flight across the Bay and see the world from the unique perspective of a pilot.  Using state-of-the-art computers and software, with multiple large displays and flight controls including yokes, throttles and rudder pedals, the Flight Sim Zone beautifully recreates the experience of flying. After you've flown one of our high-end simulators, you'll want to set up one for yourself and your family at home!

Open Cockpit Day and the Flight Sim Zone are included with museum admission. For more visit http://www.hiller.org/  or call 650-654-0200

Space Tourism

Saturday January 24, 11a.m .

Virgin Galactic, Sir Richard Branson's bold venture into space tourism, is well on its way to becoming the world's first spaceline. Space travel for the general public is about to become a reality!

To learn more about the dawning age of space tourism, plan to be at the museum on Saturday January 24th.  Beginning at 11am, a team from Virgin Galactic will give a lively and informative multimedia presentation about private space travel to all museum attendees.   Representatives will be available after the presentation to answer questions and even take reservations for a trip to space. For more information about Virgin Galactic, visit http://www.spaceagent.us/   and  http://www.virgingalactic.com/

See you up there!

This event is included with museum admission. For more visit http://www.hiller.org/ or call 650-654-0200
