Weekend Fun: Santa Fe Airshow
Having been called upon again to help shuffle cars and generally hot-shoe for the day to help fill a hot-rod/Corvette display, I wound up in Santa Fe for the annual airshow. What I didn’t know is that I would also be called upon to babysit. After arriving at the airport and setting up the cars, I settled in to engage in some people-watching before I made a tour of the static displays and the aerobatics started. The Kid, meanwhile, decided that since I was the only other person under the age o

Offutt AFB Air Show 2008
It was a great day for flying on the 16th of August out at Offutt AB. Each year the Air Force base puts on a good show for the public displaying the history and superiority of our nation’s air power. To be honest no matter how many of these aircraft I have fueled up or flown in, the excitement never dwindles watching these incredible machines slice through the air. This year’s show was promised to be one of the largest Offutt has ever hosted. I have to say from the years past they were right. L

Experimental Project Files - Bristol Brigand from Warbirds Online by Scott WRG Editor
The success of the
Beaufighter as a torpedo bomber lead to the development of an aircraft dedicated to this role. Developed from the Bristol Buckingham bomber, the Brigand used most of the Buckinghams flight surfaces. Deliveries of the TF.1 Model (Torpedo Fighter Mk I) were made to 36 and 42 Squadrons but with the war over the future of this aircraft was in doubt. It was decided that the type was versatile enough to be rebuilt for a different role. The Brigand was removed from service and rebuilt as a bomber with a clear view canopy and other detail changes and returned to service in Malaysia and Kenya. This robust aircraft served with distinction until eventually replaced by the Canberra.
