Steven Point Air Show Cancelled Following Plane Crash - WSAW | A performer in the Steven Point Air Show is dead after his plane crashed while performing an aerial maneuver at the show this afternoon. One witness tells us the pilot was making what appeared to be a question mark in smoke trails when it sounded like the engine failed....

75-year-old Air Force veteran sees Thunderbirds for first time - KREM.com | AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash.—A Coeur d’Alene Air Force veteran saw the Thunderbirds at SkyFest for the first time on Saturday. SkyFest returned to Airway Heights Saturday after a four-year hiatus. The air show featured several demonstrations, including the Air Force Thunderbirds. It was the first time 75-year-old Del Still of Coeur d’Alene saw the fighter jets in action....

Pilot killed in glider tournament - thenews.pl | Sunday's collision occurred shortly before 1 pm local time, and witnesses have commented that the 49-year-old's parachute failed to open. Both gliders fell on the town itself, and the second pilot, whose parachute opened, was taken to hospital with serious injuries....

Golden Knights wow crowds at SkyFest - KXLY Spokane The United States Army Parachute team, the Golden Knights, entertained the masses at SkyFest 2014. The Golden Knights are comprised of 89 paratroopers. Sargent First Class Brian Karst has been a part of the team for three years. "There is no greater thrill or better way to bring the American Army to the American public," said Karst....

Indy Fly-In builds dreams, offers second chances - AOPA Pilot | Austin Malcomb flew an Experimental Vans Aircraft RV-12 that he helped build in with his father, and met his grandfather, also a pilot, at the fly-in. Malcomb of North Vernon, Ind., earned his private pilot certificate on Jan. 4, his seventeenth birthday. He worked on and trained in the aircraft through Eagle’s Nest, a program in seven states that works with high schools to place an RV-12 kit for students to build and get three hours of college credit with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Purdue University, or Liberty University....

Red Arrows return to Lincoln after winter training - Lincolnshire Echo | It's a sure sign that summer has arrived in Lincolnshire - the Red Arrows have returned to the county ahead of the new display season. The squadron are back in the UK after a month-long winter training sojourn to Cyprus, and last night arrived at their home base, RAF Scampton, following an appearance at a display in Cornwall....

3rd annual fly-in and open house for charity at Ferguson airport - WEAR | Hundreds of people went to the 3rd annual fly-in and open house at Ferguson Airport this weekend.  They offered plane and helicopter rides to people who donated to a charity. The charity allows local high school students a chance to learn to fly. People waited for hours to get on their favorite aircraft.
For some it was their first time flying....

Historic biplanes flock to Stearman fly-in in Benton - Kansas.com | Owners of historic Stearman biplanes are gathering this weekend for a fly-in at the Lloyd Stearman Airport in Benton. The blue sky was dotted Friday with the Wichita-built open-cockpit planes as about 16 pilots arrived for lunch at a private airport west of Goddard. Some flew in formation as they arrived....

Females fly in for fun and fellowship - Northern Advocate | Helicopter hover, aeroplane aerobatics, glide approach and spot landings aren't your average Saturday afternoon games, but for New Zealand Association of Women in Aviation (NZAWA) members it was all part of their yearly rally held in Dargaville over the weekend. NZAWA treasurer and rally organiser Joanne Hales said 47 people came from as far afield as Dunedin for the association's 54th annual rally, held at the Dargaville Aero Club from Friday and finishing today....

Tuskegee Valiant Campaign – Plus Freshly Restored TBM Avenger · Warbirds News In mid-March, the CAF National Capitol Squadron’s BT-13 Valiant experienced power loss and engine vibration on the downwind leg coming in to its home field at Culpeper Regional Airport in Culpeper, Virginia. Thankfully the pilot made a safe, but effectively dead-stick landing. The engine is now with Covington Aircraft Engines in Okmulgee, Oklahoma for a complete overhaul, but the bill is expected to cost a whopping US$78,000. The National Capitol Squadron is now entering a fund raising campaign to gather the necessary capital to support the rebuild. The money will go strictly towards the contracted repair, overhaul and materials. Volunteers, including some of the Squadron’s cadets (ages 12-23) will provide the additional labor in bringing the Valiant back to health again....

Solar Impulse 2 Makes Premier Flight by Dean Sigler | Solar Impulse HB-SIB, the second aircraft from the program headed by Andre’ Borschberg and Bertrand Piccard, took to the skies early this morning piloted by Markus Scherdel. Taking off from Payerne Airport at 3:38 Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) Solar Impulse 2 climbed to a randomly orbiting path within a 20-mile compass of the airfield to the southwest, Lake Neuchatel to the north, and Belleville to the northeast....
