Lunken Airport - 262 Wilmer Ave
To commemorate the 70 anniversary of D-Day, the Dixie Wing and the Cincinnati Warbirds will display several historic military aircraft, featuring the P-51 Mustang, the pre-eminent fighter in the European theatre. .
In 1941, after being designed and produced in only 4 months by North American Aviation for the war effort, the P-51 Mustang’s extraordinary speed, range, and high altitude performance made it one of the Allies most valuable assets to establish air superiority, escort bombers deep into enemy territory, and support the D-Day invasion on June 6, 1944.
This will be a rare opportunity for the public to view, ride in, and perhaps fly, this rare iconic historic military aircraft. Visit http://www.dixiewing.org/rides.htm to reserve a ride.
To complete the display and flying opportunities, one of only two flying SBD Dauntless Aircraft and a T-6 Texan will also be available for rides. The B-25 Axis Nightmare from the Tri-State Warbird Museum, as well as other military aircraft will be on static display.
World War ll veterans will be on hand for interviews and to share their stories.
