Cincinnati Warbirds announces... WARBIRD WEEKEND featuring the Commemorative Air Force Dixie Wing

JUNE 20-22   9:00 AM – 6:00PM  daily

Lunken Airport - 262 Wilmer Ave

To commemorate the 70 anniversary of D-Day, the Dixie Wing and the Cincinnati Warbirds will display several historic military aircraft, featuring the P-51 Mustang, the pre-eminent fighter in the European theatre.  .

In 1941, after being designed and produced in only 4 months by North American Aviation for the war effort, the P-51 Mustang’s extraordinary speed, range, and high altitude performance made it one of the Allies most valuable assets to establish air superiority, escort bombers deep into enemy territory, and support the D-Day invasion on June 6, 1944.

This will be a rare opportunity for the public to view, ride in, and perhaps fly, this rare iconic historic military aircraft.  Visit http://www.dixiewing.org/rides.htm to reserve a ride.

To complete the display and flying opportunities, one of only two flying SBD Dauntless Aircraft and a T-6 Texan will also be available for rides.  The B-25 Axis Nightmare from the Tri-State Warbird Museum, as well as other military aircraft will be on static display.

World War ll veterans will be on hand for interviews and to share their stories.

2014 is also the 50th anniversary of the Ford Mustang automobile.  A vintage 1964 and other Mustangs will be on display with the P-51 Mustang fighter plane.  Great photo op!

On Saturday, Harley Bike Riders, with the Ohio All American HOG Rally will be stopping by, as Lunken Airport becomes one of the stops on their tour.
