California Capital Airshow Opens Its Gates This Weekend


Showcasing the best of aviation and so much more to the Sacramento region

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – October 2, 2013 - The California Capital Airshow (CCA), presented by Sacramento County, today announced stellar new additions to the performer lineup and even more entertainment for the whole family, making this year the most exciting show yet. The Airshow, October 5-6, 2013, at Mather Airport, will feature spine-tingling performances including headliner, the Royal Canadian Air Force Jet Demonstration Team, known as the Snowbirds, world-class aerobatic champions, wingsuit flyers, barnstorming, wing walking, and brand new displays and entertainment along the ramp.

Adding to this year’s high-flying action will be Mark Peterson, sharing the rich history and demonstration of the Alpha Jet with Sacramento, along with Indy Boys Entertainment, sporting a 367 mph Jet Powered School Bus and a 70 mph Jet Outhouse. The list of thrilling performances never been seen by CCA fans continues with the Snowbirds; The Bremont Horsemen, flying three F-86 Sabre Jets; five time national aerobatic champion, Kirby Chambliss; the Red Bull Air Force wing suit flyers; Franklin’s Flying Circus Dracula and the Rise of Vacul; Greg Shelton and Ashley Battles barnstorming and wing walking act; world record holder, Chip Yates; and Vultures Row T-6 Texan Formation Team. CCA is also excited to welcome back aerobatic daredevils, Michael Goulian and John Klatt Airshows.

While entertainment in the sky is endless, it only just continues on the ramp. Serving the latest crowd craze, CCA is introducing gourmet food trucks that include fresh eats from Chandos, Drewski's, Krush Burger, Mama Kim’s and Squeeze Inn. Be sure to check out the brand new Space and Aviation LaunchPad presented by Aerojet Rocketdyne, where opportunities to spark the interest of young adults and their involvement in science, technology, engineering and math related fields takes center stage. The Kids Zone returns with even more interactive and educational exhibits this year!

Get your groove on as Battle of the Bands spices up the tarmac, meet and greet your favorite performers at the Autograph Tent, and of course, you can’t forget Warbirds galore! These timeless aircraft represent the long history of aviation, and provide a walk down memory lane or the perfect photo op. The California Capital Airshow is a highly respected and anticipated event for fans all over the world, don’t miss out on your chance to join the fun!

Bring your sunscreen, hats, and comfortable shoes, because the Airshow is ready for takeoff! Gates open Saturday and Sunday at 9:00 a.m. and close at 5:00 p.m. each day. The much-anticipated show features jaw-dropping aerobatics, stomach-churning aerial jumps, and gravity defying routines that will leave you speechless, and of course wanting more! Sacramento is one of the few shows in the nation this year to host a military jet demonstration team, the Snowbirds, which will be a treat for all audiences.
