Sport Air Racing League Crowns Champs!

PFLUGERVILLE, TX – JANUARY 14, 2013 – One more news item from 2012 was the season wrap up of the Sport Air Racing League’s 2012 season. (www.sportairrace.org) As usual the season ends at the Taylor, TX airport with the Rocket 100. This cross-country race took place just a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving on a warm, but windy day in central Texas. Eighteen racers in multiple classes took to the skies one final time in competition for 2012. “This is a group I have come to really enjoy being around”, said Jeff Lee, LiveAirShowTV President. “They truly do love flying and getting together all over the country.”

Over 20 races were held this year, from south Texas to the Canadian border, and from the Chesapeake Bay to west of the Rockies. Their motto really fits their mission: It’s racing for the rest of us. Whether you’ve got a nearly 300mph Lancair, or a 150mph Cessna, there’s a racing class for you! Races are cross-country and very little passing takes place. The fastest plane goes first, and the slowest plane goes last. There will be a new category next year so watch the story to see where you might fit in.
