United States Air Force Thunderbirds to Headline 2011 Vectren Dayton Air Show Presented by Kroger

Tora Tora Tora…Red Bull Helo…Tombstone Riders Also to Appear

Las Vegas, Nevada – Vectren Dayton Air Show officials learned today that the United States Air Force Thunderbirds will appear on July 23rd and 24th at the 2011 Vectren Dayton Air Show Presented by Kroger. In addition, the show announced the first appearances by the exciting Red Bull aerobatic helicopter and the all-women wing walking team Tombstone Riders; along with the return of crowd favorite Tora Tora Tora.

The announcements were made as part of the International Council of Air Shows’ annual convention held in Las Vegas. Additional attractions will be added in the coming months with the full lineup in place by spring. 2011 marks the 37th anniversary of Dayton’s premier summer event held annually at the Dayton International Airport.

The Red Bull helicopter is flown by award-winning pilot Chuck Aaron, the first and only civilian pilot licensed by the FAA to fly aerobatics in a helicopter. He will amaze Dayton spectators as he performs back flips and rolls in the Red Bull BO-105 helicopter with its top secret modifications. Joining Chuck will be the Red Bull Air Force, an expert four-man skydiving team that can free-fly as well as perform intricate canopy work at great speeds and with tremendous accuracy. With worldwide
demand for these cutting-edge performers, Dayton is fortunate to be selected as a Red Bull air show site in 2011. This will be the first performance of an aerobatic helicopter at Dayton.

Also debuting at the 2011 Vectren Dayton Air Show Presented by Kroger is an industry first— an all-women wing walking routine starring Carol Pilon and Melissa Pemberton. Performing a Wild West routine known as Tombstone Riders, ring leader Renegade Red (aka Carol Pilon) and belle gone bad, Delta Dawn (Melissa Pemberton) will delight audiences as Melissa masterfully guides the
mighty 450 HP Stearman aircraft Royal Rhapsody while Carol daringly tames the wing.

Back by popular demand, Tora Tora Tora, a dramatic recreation of the December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor will return to Dayton in 2011. This emotionally moving crowd favorite consists of eight replica aircraft including Zero fighters, Kate torpedo bombers and Val dive bombers along with breathtaking smoke, fire and explosions. A factually entertaining narration salutes fallen soldiers on both sides of the conflict in this vivid history lesson for air show spectators.

“This is an awesome start of a sensational lineup,” stated Michael Emoff, Chairman of the United States Air & Trade Show Board of Trustees, the governing organization of the show. “It will be wonderful for Dayton to welcome back some crowd pleasers along with a host of new and exhilarating performers,” he added.

All tickets for the 2011 event go on sale today through the show’s web site, www.daytonairshow.com. Spectators may want to consider several affordable options of ticket packages as a unique Christmas gift. Visit the show’s website for further information.
