Looking for a Very Small Pilot from San Diego Air & Space Museum
The Curtiss A-1 Triad has returned to the Museum, but unfortunately we will need a very, very small pilot due to a shrink ray accident!
Actually, John Randle, who is an expert model maker and long time museum volunteer, borrowed blueprints and a few pictures of the Curtiss A-1 Triad and hand-crafted a beautiful model.
You can stop by early next year to see it on display in the Rotunda as part of the 100th anniversary of Naval Aviation celebration, but to tide you over for now, below are a few photos of this masterpiece: ...

VIDEO: Swedish Air Force unveils new Viggen capability - sledding! from The DEW Line
[CORRECTION: The video shows the Viggen, not the Gripen. Still, I'm sure it's available as a retrofit option.] I hope Saab updates its Gripen sales pitch. The never-revealed-before sledding feature of the Swedish Air Force fourth-generation fighter could be decisive in a close sales competition with the F-35. Forget AESA. If only the Norwegians knew about this, the F-35 wouldn't have had a chance in Oslo!

Notice: I received a package of RunwayPilot.com products free of charge. The items were sent to me for the express purposes of this product review – I hope you enjoy!
RunwayPilot.com was started by two college friends with nothing more than a desire to create an aviation inspired clothing line.  The idea came to them during a cross-country flying adventure to Las Vegas back in 1998 where they wished they had some aviation apparel to wear out on the town.  Fast forward to 2009 and ...

Apollo 11 - almost lost due to software errors, saved by a ten year old from The Original Rocket Dungeon
Thanks to several movies, including Ron Howard's hit of the same name, the general public is well aware of Apollo 13's story.  The short version: rocket launches, capsule heads to moon, oxygen yank ruptures, astronauts get really cold and move to command module, ground crew devises a jury rigged CO2 scrubber, astronauts breathe a little easier, capsule returns, everyone cheers, movies are made.  However, if you study NASA's history closer you will find that ...
