New York Harbor flyover for a vintage DC-7 airliner - SI Live
A flyover by a 1958-vintage airliner will take place over New York Harbor at about 10;30 a.m. today, the New York City Police Department says.
The plane, a DC-7 aircraft, will take off from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey and travel along the Hudson River to the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, according to the NYPD.
The plane will then head out toward Long Island before returning to Teterboro along the same route. The flight is expected to take about an hour.
The DC-7, manufactured by the Douglas Aircraft Company, was the last major piston-engine plane before the advent of commercial-aviation jets.
This flyover will occur again Friday and Saturday.
