Home Pylon - May 11, 2008

The monthly fly-by on all the air racing sites that I'm aware of (located here) has been completed. I'm a little disappointed. Despite there being many sites, few are updated. Pylon Racing Seminar is next month, but there is little information about who is attending. Obviously, if teams are working on their planes, there is little time to update information on websites. Your fans are begging for information (me included). Can the Indy Transponder help? Our contact information is in the right column. We'd be happy to talk to you and disseminate any information you want released.

This months lessons and updates are:

Jeffrey Archer, a very talented 11 year old photographer, has pictures up from the Minter Air Show. His dad and teacher, Victor Archer, also has updates to his gallery with a few air show galleries added. These guys are regulars at Reno - so I check their galleries often.

From the Air Venture Cup website:

LATEST NEWS:
3 May, 2008
The race forms are all posted under the GENERAL INFO - ENTRY FORMS link. From there all of the application files are in a single zip file. If for some silly reason you have trouble downloading that zip file, you can email Frank Pullano and frank@remotearrow.com and I'll forward the files to you. Good luck!
Blue Thunder Air Racing has updates posted on their website. Still making progress on Blue Thunder II!

The Team Relentless site has this announcement: SLO Signs Exclusive Distribution Agreement with XtremeAir. We'll have to visit these guys at OshKosh. According to the announcement, there will be some interesting topics to talk about.

We shared earlier this week that we found the site for the Society of Air Race Historians, and we've added their link to our Air Racing Links page.

The Reno Air Racing Association (RARA) website has new podcasts available:
19 Apr 2008: podcast/videos - two-part interview with John Penney
Two video clips with voice-over interviews with John Penney, pilot of 2007 Breitling Unlimited Gold Race winner "Rare Bear", are available via iTunes™ or from the Video/Podcast page.
There is a lot of discussion around the course change at the Reno Air Races for the Unlimiteds on AAFO. And there's been more more shared on the Critical Mass/Blind Man's Bluff thread.

Away from the pylons, and on to a different kind of racing - Red Bull Air Racing; most of the current news makes it into the regular posts of the Transponder, but I found it worthy of note that Jason Newburg's website has the Red Bull Rookie camp on his schedule. Jason was the first place finisher in the Silver Bi-plane race in 2006 at the Reno Air Races. I've asked Jason what his plans are for 2009. Will he race both Reno and the Red Bull circuit? He hasn't got back with me yet. :-(
