Lakeland, FL (10/19/2011) - Heavy Metal Jet Team, the six-ship aerobatic civilian-owned jet team sponsored by United Bank Card, Inc. (UBC), announced today an immediate name change for the team to Black Diamond Jet Team. The change reflects the continual growth of the team and desire to take it into new and bigger directions. The pilots, support staff, and sponsor for the team remain unchanged.

The Black Diamond Jet Team will add another MiG-17 aircraft to their 2012 season roster as an Opposing Solo, enabling the team to present a more uniform flying show. The seven-ship, high-performance jet aerobatics will be inclusive of the five L-39s and MiG-17 currently being displayed.

The two remaining 2011 shows for the Black Diamond Jet Team are the Cocoa Beach Air Show, from November 5 - 6 in Cocoa Beach, Florida, and the Stuart Air Show, from November 11 - 12 in Stuart, Florida. The 2012 season schedule for the team will be released in December during the annual International Council of Air Shows (ICAS) Convention in Las Vegas, NV.

Black Diamond Jet Team Adjusts Aircraft Lineup

LAKELAND, FL (June 6, 2012) – Black Diamond Jet Team, a civilian-owned aerobatic jet team based in Lakeland, FL, has announced that due to some recent developments, they will be reducing the number of aircraft available for performances during the remainder of the 2012 air show season. Several show sites will see a 5-jet formation flying the signature formation maneuvers while some sites may receive a 2-jet performance.

Although the entire team regrets any disappointment this may cause their fans and show organizers, the change is due to some positive developments. Unlike most jet teams of this size, which are typically flown by the military, the pilots and crew of Black Diamond Jet Team all have other career responsibilities. In 2011, the pilots and management of Black Diamond Jet Team jointly formed a separate corporation that has evolved in to a large defense contracting company.  This adjustment to the lineup comes as a result of increased demand for their contracting services.

The team will immediately begin coordinating with air show organizers regarding the change.

Jared Isaacman, Right Wing of Black Diamond Jet Team and CEO of the team’s sponsor Harbortouch, states, “It is no secret that the team’s pilots and management are partners in a defense contracting company. We have been in business together for nearly a year outside of our Black Diamond responsibilities. Fort Worth Alliance Air Show Adds Jet Team and Additional Performers

Show Will Take Place As Scheduled October 19th & 20th

FORT WORTH, TEXAS – The Fort Worth Alliance Air Show Presented by Bell Helicopter announced today that the show will take place as scheduled on October 19th and 20th at the Fort Worth Alliance Airport and general admission will once again be free.  The show announced that they have secured the Black Diamond Jet Team as well as 20 additional high profile performers.  There had been some speculation that the show would be forced to cancel due to the cancellation of the United States Navy Blue Angels appearance.  The Blue Angels complete 2013 season was cancelled by the Navy in early April due to the effects of the federal budget sequestration.

“We are ecstatic to have secured the Black Diamond Jet Team for this year's show,” said Tom Harris, President of Alliance Air Services. "But they are just the tip of the iceberg.  Classic military jets, historic warbirds, world-class aerobatic performers, realistic historical battle reenactments, cool interactive ground displays; we've got it all this year!"

The Black Diamond Jet Team, based in Lakeland Florida is one of the only civilian jet demonstration teams in the world.  Flying their three arctic camouflage -painted Aero L-39 Albatros jets, the Black Diamond Jet Team will fly in tight military formation and perform aerobatic maneuvers similar to those of military jet teams.  In fact, when not flying air shows, the aircraft and pilots from Black Diamond are contracted by the United States government to serve as the "Aggressor Squadron", acting as adversaries during air combat training for U.S. military pilots.

In addition to the jet team announcement today, the air show announced that this year's show will have the theme of "Honoring Our Past.  Inspiring Our Future.", with a special emphasis on World War II.  This will include hosting one of the largest WWII historical battle reenactments in the U.S. this year that will feature hundreds of authentic American and German reenactors along with tanks, armored personnel carriers, artillery, aerial dogfights, and bomber runs.  Many of the vehicles and equipment used in the battle reenactment will also be on static display at the show.

The show also announced that they will have the War on the Pacific on display as they host the very popular TORA, TORA, TORA.  TORA, TORA, TORA, is a moving historical reenactment of the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor featuring Japanese bombers and fighters mixed with an exciting pyrotechnics display.

Other WWII performers will include the Liberty Jump Team that will demonstrate an Airborne jump in vintage WWII uniform as well as a large contingent of classic military aircraft from the Cavanaugh Museum.

In keeping with the show's "Honoring Our Past.  Inspiring Our Future." theme, the show will be hosting the U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight featuring a P-47 Thunderbolt alongside a P-51 Mustang.

Another fast moving classic military aircraft that will perform at this year’s show is the MiG-17 flown by Randy Ball from Tyler, Texas.  The Vietnam-era MiG-17 was a mainstay of the Soviet Air Force and other Eastern Bloc countries during the Cold War.

The Fort Worth Alliance Air Show will also have an unprecedented group of the world's most celebrated civilian aerobatic superstars headlined by National Aviation Hall of Famer Sean D. Tucker and Team Oracle.  The show will also feature Kevin Coleman, who is known as one of the most talented young aerobatic civilian aviators in the world today.   Matt Chapman, who is an internationally-recognized aerobatics competitor and air show performer, and Dallas' own Jan Collmer will round out what will be a very strong civilian performer contingent.

Bell Helicopter won’t just be a presenting sponsor; they will also perform at this year’s show.   A Bell 429 helicopter will open the show with a demo.

It won't just be the skies where the show will have fast movers this year.  The Shockwave Jet Truck will be on hand and will reach speeds of more than 300 miles per hour as it shoots out flames and smoke.  The show also announced the All-Veteran Parachute Team will perform a demonstration as well.

This year’s show will also place an emphasis on children and promoting aviation education with fun, interactive activities for kids and families.  The show will be creating a special area called "Aviation Adventures" that will feature hands-on aviation educational activities for kids of all ages, games, opportunities to meet aviation legends, and lots of fun stuff.  The show also announced an enhanced Kidz' Zone fun area for this year's show.

The show will have a strong static display area again this year and will include a new exhibit of business jet aircraft representative of the major manufacturers globally.

"Our show has always focused on supporting our nation's military, and this year we really want to provide an opportunity for our fans to show their support and celebrate our freedom," said Harris.  "We want to celebrate America and, in the midst of fiscal difficulty for our military, we want to remind people about the sacrifices our veterans have made for our country."

In addition to the financial support that the show historically provides to the DFW USO and other organizations, this year the show will be providing a limited number of free special premium seats on the flightline each day reserved for active duty military and their guests and the show will be holding special events honoring Veterans throughout the weekend.

demonstration teams in the world. Flying their three arctic camouflage -painted Aero L-39 Albatros jets, the Black Diamond Jet Team will fly in tight military formation and perform aerobatic maneuvers similar to those of military jet teams. In fact, when not flying air shows, the aircraft and pilots from Black Diamond are contracted by the United States government to serve as the "Aggressor Squadron", acting as adversaries during air combat training for U.S. military pilots.

This year’s air show will have the theme of "Honoring Our Past. Inspiring Our Future.", with a special emphasis on World War II. This will include hosting two WWII historical battle reenactments each day. The morning battle will be a Pacific Theatre-themed battle involving U.S. Marines battling Japanese forces. The afternoon battle will be a European Theatre-themed battle featuring authentic American and German reenactors along with tanks, artillery and aircraft support. Many of the vehicles and equipment used in the battle reenactment will also be on static display at the show.

The War in the Pacific will also be on display as the very popular TORA, TORA, TORA performs a moving historical reenactment of the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor featuring Japanese bombers and fighters mixed with an exciting pyrotechnics display. 

Other WWII performers will include the Liberty Jump Team that will demonstrate an airborne jump in vintage WWII uniform as well as a large contingent of classic military aircraft from the Cavanaugh Museum.

In keeping with the show's "Honoring Our Past. Inspiring Our Future." theme, the show will be hosting the U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight featuring a P-47 Thunderbolt alongside a P-51 Mustang. Another fast moving classic military aircraft that will perform at this year’s show is the MiG-17 flown by Randy Ball from Tyler, Texas. The Vietnam-era MiG-17 was a mainstay of the Soviet Air Force and other Eastern Bloc countries during the Cold War.

In addition to Goulian, the show will also have an unprecedented group of the world's most celebrated civilian aerobatic superstars headlined by National Aviation Hall of Famer Sean D. Tucker and Team Oracle. The show will also feature Red Bull Air Racer and aerobatic star Kirby Chambliss as well as Kevin Coleman, who is known as one of the most talented young aerobatic civilian aviators in the world today. Matt Chapman, who is an internationally-recognized aerobatics competitor and air show performer, and Dallas' own Jan Collmer will round out what will be a very strong civilian performer contingent.

Bell Helicopter won’t just be a presenting sponsor; they will also perform at this year’s show. A Bell 429 helicopter will open the show with a demo.

It won't just be the skies where the show will have fast movers this year. The Shockwave Jet Truck will be on hand and will reach speeds of more than 300 miles per hour as it shoots out flames and smoke. The show also announced the All-Veteran Parachute Team will perform a demonstration as well.

This year’s show will also place an emphasis on children and promoting aviation education with fun, interactive activities for kids and families. The show will be creating a special area called "Aviation Adventures" that will feature hands-on aviation educational activities for kids of all ages, games,  opportunities to meet aviation legends, and lots of fun materials. The show also announced an enhanced Kidz' Zone fun area for this year's show.

The show will have a strong static display area again this year and will include a new exhibit of business jet aircraft representative of the major manufacturers globally.

In addition to the financial support that the show historically provides to the DFW USO and other organizations, this year the show will be providing a limited number of free special premium seats on the flightline each day reserved for active duty military and their guests and the show will be holding special events honoring Veterans throughout the weekend.

Although general admission for the show is free, there is a $20 fee per vehicle for parking. U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, Canadian Forces Snowbirds and Black Diamond Jet Team Headline Oct. 13-14 Air Show

Daytona Beach, Fla. – World-renowned U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will join an action-packed weekend of aerial performances by more than 40 aircraft over the Atlantic Ocean at Embry-Riddle's Wings and Waves Air Show on Oct. 13-14, 2012 in Daytona Beach.

The show begins at 11 a.m. daily on the shore in front of the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort. The event, which is the only air show in North America to host three jet demonstration teams, is free and open to the public.

Numerous Embry-Riddle alumni are scheduled to participate including Maj. J.R. Williams and Maj. Jason Moore of the Thunderbirds, world-record holding skydiver Cheryl Stearns, GEICO Skytyper lead solo pilot Steve Salmirs and Black Diamond Jet Team Leader Jerry "Jive" Kerby, along with Embry-Riddle sponsored aerobatic performer Matt Chapman.

- U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds – Now in their 59th year of wowing audiences with their combat fighter pilot skills, the 130-person squadron deemed the USAF's "Ambassadors in Blue" represents nearly 700,000 active duty, guard and reserve airmen serving at home and abroad – including two team members who are Embry-Riddle alum and another graduate tapped for the team later this year. Prescott graduate Williams (lead pilot No. 5) and Daytona Beach alum Moore (maintenance officer) will be joined by 2011 Embry-Riddle Worldwide grad Capt. - Canadian Forces Snowbirds – The iconic Snowbirds Demonstration Team (431 Squadron) composed of approximately 80 members of the Canadian Forces and the Royal Canadian Air Force will perform only once in Florida this year – and this is it. The Snowbirds' pilots and aircraft technicians spend the winter months at their home base in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada practicing more than 50 five-, seven- and nine-plane formations. The Camel, named so because of the humped fairing over its twin machine guns, shot down more German aircraft (1,294) than any other Allied plane. The Dreidecker, a small, lightweight and highly maneuverable dogfighter, is best known for its image as the "Red Baron's" aircraft during WWI as it was flown by ace Baron Manfred von Richthofen.

United States Navy to Demonstrate F/A-18 Super Hornet at Wings Over North Georgia Air Show

Historic WWII Warbirds Also Added to Show Lineup

Rome, Georgia (June 7, 2012) JLC AirShow Management today announced that the United States Navy has confirmed that the Wings Over North Georgia Air Show has been approved for the F/A-18 Super Hornet tactical fighter demonstration performed by the VFA-106 TAC Demo Team from NAS Oceana, Virginia.  The air show will take place at Richard B. Russell (Tower Field) Regional Airport in Rome, Georgia September 28 – 30 and will be headlined by the Canadian Forces Snowbirds and the Black Diamond jet teams.   In addition to the air show, the Smoke-n-Thunder Barbeque Classic™, Smoke-n-Thunder Auto Show™ and Commemorative Air Force’s “Red, White & Loud Concert” featuring country recording artist Aaron Tippin will take place.          

The air show also announced today that the Black Diamond jet team performance at Wings Over North Georgia and at most other shows this year will consist of two L-39 jets. Originally, Black Diamond had planned on performing in seven jets at the show.  The change in Black Diamond’s team makeup was necessary because many of their pilots and aircraft have been engaged by the U.S. government to provide contracting services in support of our nation’s military.

The F/A‐18 Super Hornet is the Navy’ frontline fighter aircraft and has served with distinction during current conflicts.    This twin-engine, carrier-based aircraft takes on multiple roles including:  air-to-air combat, air-to-ground combat, fighter escort and reconnaissance.  The Super Hornet will fly demonstrations on both weekend days at the show.

In addition to the Super Hornet’s solo tactical demonstrations, the air show will also host a United States Navy Legacy Flight pairing the F/A-18 Super Hornet with the F4-U Corsair.  The Legacy Flight program matches today’s frontline fighters with their WWII era predecessors in close flight maneuvers.  The Super Hornet and Corsair flight is sure to be a grand salute to the United States Navy and its commitment to aviation evolution.

The show also announced that the F4-U Corsair “Korean War Hero” and the P-51D Mustang “Quick Silver” have been added to fly Saturday & Sunday solo demonstrations along with the Friday evening twilight show.

The F4-U Corsair was the most capable carrier-based bomber-fighter of World War II.  Flown today by Jim Tobul of South Carolina; this aircraft has seen the tests of time.  Jim and his father, Joe Tobul, bought this airplane in 1981 after discovering the 1945 Corsair in a lime orchard in Homestead, Florida.  After a very long rebuilding project, "Korean War Hero" proudly flew again on December 8, 1991 over the Pittsburgh skies.

The P-51 is one of the most iconic aircraft from WWII and is known for the incredible & unique sound of the 1800 horsepower Merlin Rolls Royce engine as it performs high power aerobatic routines.  The P-51D Quick Silver, also known as “The Resurrected Veteran”, celebrates our nation’s armed forces. Thoughtfully designed, each aspect of the paint feature represents and honors those who have served our country and who have made the ultimate sacrifice.  Father and son team, Bill and Scott “Scooter” Yoak of West Virginia, spent 13 years meticulously working to make the P-51D Mustang a reality. The Quick Silver Mustang is made from parts of Mustangs that were used in every war theater the Mustang was utilized.  Flying the Pitts S2C and one-of-a-kind Talon Eagle, Billy Werth and Dan McClung demonstrate the awesome power of these highly-modified aerobatic aircraft.
