Introducing "The Aviators," a Canadian-based program slated to premiere on Public Broadcasting Stations in Canada and the United States in September. "The show is essentially a magazine show of aviation stories," explained Anthony Nalli, executive producer. "We like to say that it is for anyone who has ever gazed skywards."

What to do about it? Well, obviously: Hit a button on the back of a steering wheel and vertically lift your vehicle off the road, into the sky, and out of the range of an improvised explosive device. Why didn't the big brains at the Pentagon's anti-roadside bomb squad think of that?...

Flying Car Landing In A Driveway Near You from Alternative Energy Newswire | Apparently the FFA works much faster than the EPA – the FFA has just approved the "Flying Car," also known at the Transition Roadable Aircraft. While the flying car, developed by Terrafugia (ter-ra-FOO-gee-ah), doesn't currently run on an alternative fuel such as ethanol or biodiesel, it is an "alternative" way to get yourself around town. So here is how it works….You jump into the cockpit and back your Flying Car out of the garage and head to the airport, driving on the same roads as FFVs, electric cars and hybrids. You pull up to the airport, head out to the runway, drop your wings, which are controlled from the cockpit, and take off. Sweet. No more three hour commutes in rush hour traffic…

Dreamliner Invited To AirVenture from AVweb Top News | There's a chance the Boeing 787 will make its airshow debut at this year's AirVenture Oshkosh. EAA spokesman Dick Knapinski has confirmed that Boeing has been invited to show off its latest design and is considering the idea. "The Boeing folks have an open invitation to join us, and we have had discussions about them attending," Knapinski said Tuesday. He noted that the participation of the Dreamliner and its extent will depend on the aggressive flight-test schedule Boeing has set for the aircraft. The schedule hit a minor setback last week when "workmanship issues" were discovered in the horizontal stabilizers of the five test aircraft.

Barnstormers bring high-flying tour to North Iowa - MASON CITY — They all walk — or rather, fly — different paths, but they all have one abiding passion: The sky. "I always wanted to fly a biplane coast to coast," recalled Richard "Speed" Hornbeck, one of several vintage airplane pilots who are part of the American Barnstormers Tour. Within a week of restoring his 1929 Waco Texaco bi-plane, "my buddy and I jumped in, took off for California. It took about a week to get there. "Got there; we had a burger on the beach, turned around and flew right back, which took about another week," he said with chuckle. "It was great." Hornbeck is one of about 20 pilots on the 7-city 2010 tour with their vintage planes. Almost all are from the "golden age" of flight, from 1918 to 1940. The show continues today and Saturday at the Mason City Municipal Airport…

At that times they were proposed to have as much propellers as possible to help carrying those huge flying fortresses into the air, jet propulsion has not been implemented at those times yet. Not much photos were saved since that times, because of the high secrecy levels of such projects and because a lot of time passed already. Still on the photo below you can see one of such planes - a heavy bomber K-7. Now modern history lovers in Russia try to reconstruct according the plans left in once to be top-secret Russian army archives their look in full color.
