Captain Albert Ball VC RFC The Nottingham trail 18-10-2012 from stickandrudderWTO by G-GARY | Today, I went to try and find any trace of Captain Abert Ball VC RFC, that I could. He was from the City of Nottingham, and I wanted to know more about this local hero, without getting too 'intrusive'.Todays trail went well, although two items, still need to be checked-out, in the form of a 'plaque' at the Holy Trinity church Lenton, which must be inside the building, so permission will have to 'granted' for that veiwing, should it be available to the public. The other 'item' is a prop and a oil-painting of him, held at the Trent College at Long Eaton, where he attended, and again permission will have to be sought with that visit too. Not sure if the propeller is from a 'kill' over the Western front or another from elsewhere, of which a former 'game-keeper' held for many years, after a young Albert Ball gave to it him, after a crash in an aeroplane, on what is now Aspley/Strelley social housing. But I shall make the effort to view these items if it is possible. This mornings trail started at Church Lane Lenton...
