Indy Transponder 27-JUN-2011 1030z

From ICAS - Jacquie Warda had an engine failure over southeast Oregon while flying home from an air show in Idaho. Her plane was destroyed during the forced landing, but Jacquie B escaped with bad bruises and some scary memories. She'll be sore for a few weeks, but, on behalf of the entire air show community, we're very glad it was not worse than that.

Cross Country Part IV  from Life on the Road as a Pilot by admin@girlswithwings.com (Lynda)  I believe I can wrap up this adventure with this last installment. Having never been a woman of few words, I know I'm dragging out this experience but it's been great for me to reinforce all that I've learned. So where was I....?  Oh, yeah, Oklahoma. After another very short night's sleep it was time to continue on to the Air Race Classic Terminus in Mobile, AL. I called the weather briefers again and received the news that the way was MOSTLY clear, except for a couple of isolated thunderstorms along our route and some low ceilings about 2/3 of the way to our destination…

Burt Rutan’s Race to Space — book review  from Travel for Aircraft | This is not only a book about Burt Rutan’s successful quest into space, it encompasses the aeronautical legacy Burt Rutan. Simply put, it all appears to be here in 160 pages (including index), explained in a clear writing style accompanied by photos as well as illustrations. The appendix summarizes most of Rutan’s designs. One book cannot cover them all, as I learned in Lineman’s book, since almost every idea that was created from Rutan’s immensely fertile mind was assigned a project number — but there are an incredible 84 entries nonetheless…

Did they think this all the way through?  from Bayou Renaissance Man by Peter | I note that the fuselage of the Airbus that crashed into the Hudson River in January 2009 has arrived at the Carolinas Aviation Museum at Charlotte Airport, NC. It was greeted by two fire trucks making an arch of water with their pressure jets.  Er . . . was this really a good idea? I mean . . . remember how this whole thing started?...
