Antique Airfield... Heaven On Earth! (AAA Fly-In 8.31.13 13 Pix) AirPigz | The 2013 Antique Airplane Association fly-in runs thru Monday September 2nd in Blakesburg Iowa... it's the most amazing collection of antique airplanes, and I made the drive over Friday to experience it again. I'll add that I made a swing down thru Indianapolis on the way Friday to go flying with Billy Werth in his Pitts S2C. I'm getting really close to having my financial problems of the last 5 years behind me, so some bartered time in the Pitts doing takeoffs and landings was a great way to knock of the rust of of my taildragger skills! I actually did really well and look forward to getting myself current before long in a Cub or something similar. I also hope to keep moving forward in the Pitts with both aerobatics and fine tuning the landing experience...

RAF Vickers VC10 Aerial Refueling Tanker Arrives at Classic Air Force Museum - Warbirds News | One of the final three flying Vickers VC10 jetliners left in the world landed last week at the Newquay Cornwall Airport in Newquay, UK where it will be joining the collection of aircraft in the Classic Air Force Museum. This “Vickie Ten” was built in 1967 and began life with East African Airlines as 5Y-ADA. DeSoto, MO VFW Post 1831 Displays Newly-Arrived Army Cobra Helicopter - The Aero Experience | VFW Post 1831 in DeSoto, MO recently received U.S. Army AH-1G Cobra helicopter for display in honor of military veterans. After a five-year process of requests and preparations, volunteers from the post placed the Cobra, still with its well-worn exterior, on its pad August 10. It is now wearing a new coat of olive primer, and soon the post will put on two coats of olive drab paint along with the crossed swords of the Air Calvary and shark's teeth on the nose...
