Sport Air Racing League Kicks off 2010 Season

April 9, 2010 - TAYLOR TX - The Sport Air Racing League opens the 2010 race season this weekend at Taylor, Texas with a 150NM race around the Central Texas Hill Country.  20 aircraft are registered including Glassairs, Rockets, several RVs, a Long EZ, Bonanzas, Mooneys, a Cirrus SR20 and a Cessna 182.

Billed as "Racing for the rest of us", The Sport Air Racing League gives general aviation pilots the opportunity to fly a predetermined course against planes of the same type.  There is little or no passing of other aircraft, since the fastest plane takes off first.  These pilots compete in several classes, are racing against the clock, and will accrue points to determine and over all champion at the end of the season in November.

LiveAirShowTV covered the last race of the year in 2009, and will return for this first race of 2010.  Jeff Lee, LiveAirShowTV President said, "I went out there back in November to see what this was all about.  I found a bunch of people who really love aviation have found a way to compete in a safe manner to make it more fun.  In some ways, it's just like Reno in that the pilots enjoy getting together with their friends to go flying.  That's something we found is a universal truth, no matter what the level of competition."  Watch for a wrap up of the race on LiveAirShowTV's YouTube channel over the weekend.
