So, you want to go Air Racing? - Dasher
The third most frequently asked question I hear about Air Racing is – How do I get started? I thought I would share with you how I get started, and tell you how to go about moving from the stands to the pits.
At one time… every Race Pilot went to the races and thought, I want to do that! Each of us had to make some decisions and focus on the goal. And while the process has become more structured in recent years with the creation of the Pylon Racing Seminar, it's still a process.

It's like Oshkosh in March! from Letters from Flyover Country
My wife and I are on a road trip -- the first "just go away" trip we've been on together in two years... exploring the Great Plains, Rockies, and Southwest. We're looking forward to visiting with Oshkosh/RV pals Darwin Barrie in Phoenix (we're bringing him an authentic case of Leinie's Sunset Wheat) and Glenn Brasch and his family in Tucson.
Follow all of the 'action' on my other blog -- Stirrings From the Empty Nest. Did I mention we're doing this the old fashioned way -- by car. It has its advantages, if we were in the air, we might not enjoy the massive migration of sandhill cranes we saw yesterday afternoon.

Sitton recalls time in cockpit of WWII-era airplane - News-Bulletin
Jimmy Sitton went to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., and was surprised to see a plane he flew during World War II parked inside.
The trip was a gift from his son, Randy. His son's father-in-law also went along.
The museum bills itself as the largest collection of historic air and space craft in the world.
And among the Spirit of St. Louis and the Apollo 11 command module sat Sitton's plane, a Boeing-Stearman Kaydet N2S-5. The plane is a single propeller biplane that was used for a few years in the 1940s to train pilots.
It holds two people, and reaches speeds of about 124 miles per hour, said Sitton, who lives in Los Lunas.
The plane displayed at the Smithsonian wasn't just a similar airplane or the same model Sitton flew back in the day, it was the exact same airplane he had flown twice ...
