Dubai Air Show Preview 2009 by Charles Alcock
The world's aerospace industry could use a morale boost, and it might just get it at the 2009 Dubai Air Show (November 15 to 19) at the end of a year that has brought little but austerity and uncertainty. The Middle East has been a strong generator of growth over the past decade, and the market's potential to revive otherwise sluggish sales in the aerospace sector is more important now than ever before. While it has not been untouched by the continuing global economic downturn, the region is bucking the trend of stagnation in air traffic demand and remains an important customer for new defense technology. ...

End of era for airport guru from Diamond Pilots by Kathryn
They call it Dan Murray's hangar. But that doesn't quite get the point across.
The hangar, on the west side of Vance Brand Municipal Airport, is more like a machine shop, parts warehouse, repair facility and flight museum combined, as well as hangar, and Murray is a mechanic, engineer, parts supplier, tour guide and the airport's flight-enthusiast-in-chief, in addition to pilot.
Murray has occupied the hangar for 13 years. With his models of aircraft hanging from the high ceiling, old plane parts decorating the walls, and his collection of photos and knickknacks related to his long career in flight, the place has a touch of magic. No wonder it's the highlight of school tours of the airport. ...

Amelia: The Movie that Should Have Been from You Fly, Girl by Cathy Gale
I'm an admirer of Amelia Earhart, but truth be told I never was really planning to go see this movie, as it seemed rather obvious from the previews that they were going to focus on the love triangle between Putnam (her husband, played by Richard Gere) and Gene Vidal (played by Ewen McGregor). And I wanted it to concentrate on her flying. ...

New pararescue truck coming to Guardian Angels from Air Force Times - News
The Air Force knows what it wants for its pararescue teams: a light but rugged truck that can be parachuted into combat, loaded up with wounded troops and driven to a pick-up zone.Still in the early stages of development, the Guardian Angel Air-Droppable Rescue Vehicle will be big enough to transport four pararescuemen and four troops — two ambulatory and two on stretchers — yet small enough to be dropped from a cargo plane or unloaded from a heavy-lift helicopter or cargo plane."Our Guardian Angels have a lot of technical rescue equipment …

New restaurant to open at Muncie airport - The Star Press
Kacy J's, an upscale dining establishment with a classical American menu featuring steaks priced up to $25, is set to open Tuesday at the Delaware County Airport.
Kacy J's follows Nick's and Kimbler's Landing, two short-lived restaurants that followed Vince's, a longtime airport eatery that struggled before closing at the end of 2006.
Muncie Aviation, which owns the liquor license traditionally used by operators of restaurants at the airport, has a long-standing interest in maintaining an eatery there to cater to pilots and customers of the aviation company.
Owner Jay Mealy said be believes Muncie and Delaware County residents will embrace a business removed from "restaurant row" along McGalliard Road.
