Raptor Pilot to Lead Thunderbirds from http://www.airforce-magazine.com/
Raptor Pilot to Lead Thunderbirds: The Thunderbirds air demonstration squadron’s list of officer selections for the 2010 demonstration season includes, for the first time, an F-22 pilot. In fact, Lt. Col. Case Cunningham, currently director of operations for the 43rd Fighter Squadron, a Raptor training unit at Tyndall AFB, Fla., has been chosen to lead the elite team next year, the Thunderbirds stated in
a release yesterday. The squadron, based in Nellis AFB, Nev., is currently in the midst of its 2009 flying season, its 56th year of performing synchronized aerobatic routines at air shows around the globe. Those pilots like Cunningham who currently fly different airframes than the Thunderbirds’ F-16s will undergo several months of F-16 familiarization training before they begin practicing aerial demonstrations with the other Thunderbird pilots, according to the release

2010 Title Pursuit to Start in July by David Kervinen
It certainly has been a very difficult past year for the entire country, let alone Infinity Entertainment. We managed to weather the storm fairly well, clamped down on spending and focus on doing what ever it takes to keep our basic infrastructure in place so we have a future. To date, it seemed to have paid off. As of July, we will be aggressively pursuing a title sponsor for the 2010 airshow season. It requires significant resources to do but we feel the timing is good. Improvements in the collective American psyche regarding the economy have people fairly optimistic and that includes Infinity Entertainment. We have reached out to a few bellwether Fortune 1000 clients of ours who echo our sentiments. The 2009 airshow season is now well on its way with very favorable attendance records considering the economic conditions. Historically, in down turns in the economy, airshows seem to do very well. Some has to do with the cost/value proposition and some has to do with it being a family affair. At any rate, this is a season we wish we were part of. Nothing could be more frustrating than to have a highly anticipated, high dollar asset sitting in a hangar awaiting its debut. It a frustration the entire team seems to share. As always, we will continue to share our journey of securing a title sponsor with all of you. We want to thank you all for your continued support for the past eighteen months, it is such a boost to the entire team. Thank you.

Experimental Balloonists Gather For Annual Fly-In from AVwebFlash Current Issue
The fifth annual XLTA event, held recently in Amherst, Mass., attracted the pilots of 27 lighter-than-aircraft, most of them experimental homebuilts, for a weekend of flying and fellowship. "This is not a public event, not a spectator event, but entirely participatory," organizer Dan Nachbar told AVweb this week. "There is no pressure on the pilots to fly -- but everyone wants to fly as much as they can." This year's 70-plus attendees included pilots and crew from as far away as Wisconsin and Washington state, and five pilots from the UK. They brought with them a variety of creative and colorful projects, from a spectacular tetrahedron-shaped balloon to a hot-air blimp (though the blimp is not a homebuilt but manufactured by Thunder & Colt). About half of the aircraft were "cloudhopper-style," featuring just a harness to hold the pilot aloft, and half had baskets of various kinds to allow passengers. And most satisfying to Nachbar, five of this year's pilots were under 30. "We're generally a gray-haired crowd, not just the lighter-than-air folks, but experimental aircraft in general," Nachbar said. "So it's great to see the whippersnappers get involved."

Transported to treatment on wings of Angel Flight from http://www.bolivarmonews.com/
Karen and Joel Stokes are no strangers to the skies. Routine flights deliver Joel, and his mom, to Shriners Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Shortly after he turned one, Joel was badly burned. Ever since then, Joel has been traveling across the country for treatment — by way of angels. While these angels don’t have wings and halos, they do have planes, and they give their time and their money to provide transportation for medical treatment across the United States. Angel Flight Central is a volunteer, non-profit organization “dedicated to removing the burdens of arranging long-distance transportation at times of personal and community crisis.” According to the Angel Flight Web site, Angel Flight volunteers and supporters have made possible more than 10,000 flights free of charge. “Angel” pilots have clocked 5 million miles to help thousands of families.
