US Secret Plane Uncovered [Airplanes] from Gizmodo by Jesus Diaz | Remember the secret plane spotted in Kandahar? The one that looked like a Nazi stealth plane? Well, it's been spotted again, but this time the picture is crystal clear, and it doesn't look like anything in the US arsenal. There's a possibility that it may have a canopy above the nose, which means it could be a very small manned plane instead of a UAV. On the other side, it could just be the air intake. Its buttocks look like those of the P175 Polecat, a design by Skunk Works—Lockheed Martin's Advanced Development Programs. Whatever it is, I want one for xmas. [Flight Global]

It will be a major step towards an eventual free flight of the experimental craft early next year and an attempt at an engineering first – reaching six times the speed of sound on the power of an air-breathing engine burning jet fuel. If achieved, it could open the door to a new class of high-speed weapons and quick-response, airplane-like space lifters.

Dave Morss completes 200th Air Race

Congratulations Dave Morss!

Dave Morss has been at it for a while now. Today, he completed his 200th air race at the Reno National Championship Air Races in the P-51A Polar Bear in the Unlimited Bronze race. Dave was also scheduled to fly later in the Sport Class in his #99 Martin's Legacy, a Lancair Legacy.

Dave Morss is a test pilot when he is not at the air races. We've mentioned Dave in other articles on the Indy Transponder. Dave is the test pilot for the "built from scratch" Unlimited air racer, Wildfire, which we hope to see at Reno next year. (Wildfire: Get it Done for Dad)

Air show fans who have been awaiting the arrival the Turbine Toucan at a local air show can tell you that Dave was the test pilot for that remarkable air plane also.

Without a doubt, we'll be reading more about Dave in the future!

Turbine Toucan Makes Appearance at Hiller Aviation's All Helicopter Show "Vertical Challenge 2009" from Turbine Toucan by David Kervinen
Greetings All, This past weekend was another small little milestone for Infinity Entertainment, and it all happened serendipitously. Hiller Aviation Museum was having its annual Vertical Challenge Airshow at hour home airport in San Carlos Ca. It is the US’s largest all helicopter show with civilian and military hardware just about everywhere. The day before the one-day event one of the guys at Hiller Aviation asked if I would be interested in leaving my hangar open to display the Turbine Toucan. I gave it some thought and figured what the heck. This was actually the first time the Turbine Toucan would be exposed to the general public. Unlike the AOPA show in San Jose, which focuses on like-minded aviation professionals and pilots, the Vertical Challenge really is a family event. Most know little to nothing about aviation, they just want to be entertained…

The Right Stuff - No doubt about it - my favorite local airshow is the annual Vertical Challenge helicopter airshow at the Hiller Aviation Museum at San Carlos Airport. In addition to this annual airshow being a whole lot of fun, there are lots of sentimental memories for me at San Carlos. My Cherokee 235 was based at the Skyway Building tiedowns for several years. 12° Gruppo F-2000s deployed to Trapani from David Cenciotti's weblog - the most visited Italian Aviation Blog by David Cenciotti
The mini-airshow held in Trapani on Jun. 8, 2009 to celebrate the first 1.000 flight hours of Maj. Salvatore Ferrara and Maj. Maurizio De Angelis (to read more about the event click
Part 1, Part 2) provided the opportunity to take some pictures of the Gioia del Colle F-2000s temporary deployed to Trapani to perform firing activities in the Sardinian range (Trapani is ideal for such a kind of activity since it is located on the coast and the armed aircraft can reach the ranges overflying only the sea). The aircraft belonged to the 12° Gruppo of the 36° Stormo. During the afternoon of Jun. 8, one of them suffered a minor failure during the firing activity and was compelled to return to Trapani and perform an emergency landing as one of the pictures, taken by Giovanni Maduli, shows.

Hitler's Stealth Fighter National Geographic Channel from channel.nationalgeographic.com
Indeed, some of the Germans’ innovations in military technology would prove extremely useful. Nazi Germany’s advances in rocketry such as the V-2 guided missile, for example, would accelerate American efforts to develop ballistic missiles and send manned missions into space. And today’s B-2 bomber bears unmistakable design similarities to the Horten Ho 229, a German jet still under development at the war’s end, whose swept-back single wing and radar-shielding carbon-impregnated plywood skin might have made it the first stealthy aircraft.

Historic Aircraft Trump Modern Planes from All Things Aviation by admin

Due to illness we had to leave slightly eaerlier than planned, missing the Polish Mig 29UB demo at the end of the show.
