FORT WORTH, TEXAS (October 14, 2013) – The Fort Worth Alliance Air Show Presented by Bell Helicopter announced today the addition of aerobatic pilot Michael Goulian and the supersonic T-38 Talon jet to this year's show lineup. They will join an amazing lineup of aerobatic superstars, ground reenactments, and classic military aircraft as well as an aviation festival on the ground with static displays, interactive exhibit booths, food and more. his state-of-the-art Whelen Extra 330SC, performing an impressive array of slick maneuvers.  Composed of high-tech, lightweight carbon-fiber and rugged steel construction, the EXTRA 330SC is the world's most high performance aerobatic airplane. Goulian, a former Red Bull Air Racer, announced this week that he will be rejoining the air racing circuit in 2014. Despite Goulian’s successes he remains humble and accessible to his air show fans. This rare combination has made Michael Goulian an unforgettable air show favorite.

The T-38 Talon is a twin-engine supersonic jet trainer capable of reaching speeds of Mach 1.3 (858 mph). It was the world's first supersonic trainer and is also the most produced. The T-38 remains in service in air forces throughout the world.

demonstration teams in the world. Flying their three arctic camouflage -painted Aero L-39 Albatros jets, the Black Diamond Jet Team will fly in tight military formation and perform aerobatic maneuvers similar to those of military jet teams. In fact, when not flying air shows, the aircraft and pilots from Black Diamond are contracted by the United States government to serve as the "Aggressor Squadron", acting as adversaries during air combat training for U.S. military pilots.

This year’s air show will have the theme of "Honoring Our Past. Inspiring Our Future.", with a special emphasis on World War II. This will include hosting two WWII historical battle reenactments each day. The morning battle will be a Pacific Theatre-themed battle involving U.S. Marines battling Japanese forces. The afternoon battle will be a European Theatre-themed battle featuring authentic American and German reenactors along with tanks, artillery and aircraft support. Many of the vehicles and equipment used in the battle reenactment will also be on static display at the show.

The War in the Pacific will also be on display as the very popular TORA, TORA, TORA performs a moving historical reenactment of the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor featuring Japanese bombers and fighters mixed with an exciting pyrotechnics display. 

Other WWII performers will include the Liberty Jump Team that will demonstrate an airborne jump in vintage WWII uniform as well as a large contingent of classic military aircraft from the Cavanaugh Museum.

In keeping with the show's "Honoring Our Past. Inspiring Our Future." theme, the show will be hosting the U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight featuring a P-47 Thunderbolt alongside a P-51 Mustang. Another fast moving classic military aircraft that will perform at this year’s show is the MiG-17 flown by Randy Ball from Tyler, Texas. The Vietnam-era MiG-17 was a mainstay of the Soviet Air Force and other Eastern Bloc countries during the Cold War.

In addition to Goulian, the show will also have an unprecedented group of the world's most celebrated civilian aerobatic superstars headlined by National Aviation Hall of Famer Sean D. Tucker and Team Oracle. The show will also feature Red Bull Air Racer and aerobatic star Kirby Chambliss as well as Kevin Coleman, who is known as one of the most talented young aerobatic civilian aviators in the world today. Matt Chapman, who is an internationally-recognized aerobatics competitor and air show performer, and Dallas' own Jan Collmer will round out what will be a very strong civilian performer contingent.

Bell Helicopter won’t just be a presenting sponsor; they will also perform at this year’s show. A Bell 429 helicopter will open the show with a demo.

It won't just be the skies where the show will have fast movers this year. The Shockwave Jet Truck will be on hand and will reach speeds of more than 300 miles per hour as it shoots out flames and smoke. The show also announced the All-Veteran Parachute Team will perform a demonstration as well.

This year’s show will also place an emphasis on children and promoting aviation education with fun, interactive activities for kids and families. The show will be creating a special area called "Aviation Adventures" that will feature hands-on aviation educational activities for kids of all ages, games,  opportunities to meet aviation legends, and lots of fun materials. The show also announced an enhanced Kidz' Zone fun area for this year's show.

The show will have a strong static display area again this year and will include a new exhibit of business jet aircraft representative of the major manufacturers globally.

In addition to the financial support that the show historically provides to the DFW USO and other organizations, this year the show will be providing a limited number of free special premium seats on the flightline each day reserved for active duty military and their guests and the show will be holding special events honoring Veterans throughout the weekend.

Radio Control Association to the 2013 lineup.  The Black Diamond Jet Team will be the show's headline performers and will be joined by a lineup stacked with world-class performers on October 19th and 20th at the Fort Worth Alliance Airport.

“We are continuing to build our lineup to give our fans the best show possible,” said Tom Harris, President of Alliance Air Services. "The additions of Kirby Chambliss and the Red Bull Air Force and the Fort Worth Thunderbirds to our already blockbuster lineup will make this year’s show a must see for the whole family!"

Chambliss, who will be performing for the first time-ever in Fort Worth, is a former Red Bull Air Race World Champion and began his extreme sports career racing motocross.  After years of racing on the ground he turned to the sky and never looked back.  His years of training paid off with increased recognition at air shows, a mounting fan base and acceptance onto the U.S. National Aerobatic Team.  Chambliss is a five-time U.S. National Aerobatic Champion (FAI World Aerobatic Championships, bronze & team bronze in 2005, silver & bronze in 2003, bronze & team silver in 1998).  Chambliss’ act at the air show will feature his sponsor’s skydiving team, the Red Bull Air Force.

The Red Bull Air Force performs around the world experimenting with wingsuit and skydiving projects.  In their wingsuits, the team can reach speeds of more than 100 mph while hovering within feet of each other.  Their parachute performances are just as impressive with intricate downplane maneuvers that include team members attaching themselves to one another while parachuting to the ground.  At the air show this year, the Red Bull Air Force and Kirby Chambliss will perform at the same time with Chambliss circling the Air Force as they soar through the sky.

Chambliss and the Red Bull Air Force join an already stellar lineup of civilian aerobatic superstars including Sean D. Tucker, Matt Chapman, Kevin Coleman, and Jan Collmer.

FORT WORTH, TEXAS – The Fort Worth Alliance Air Show Presented by Bell Helicopter announced today that the show will take place as scheduled on October 19th and 20th at the Fort Worth Alliance Airport and general admission will once again be free.  The show announced that they have secured the Black Diamond Jet Team as well as 20 additional high profile performers.  There had been some speculation that the show would be forced to cancel due to the cancellation of the United States Navy Blue Angels appearance.  The Blue Angels complete 2013 season was cancelled by the Navy in early April due to the effects of the federal budget sequestration.

“We are ecstatic to have secured the Black Diamond Jet Team for this year's show,” said Tom Harris, President of Alliance Air Services. "But they are just the tip of the iceberg.  Classic military jets, historic warbirds, world-class aerobatic performers, realistic historical battle reenactments, cool interactive ground displays; we've got it all this year!"

PFLUGERVILLE, TX JANUARY 25, 2013 – Who’s that guy flying the bright yellow plane that looks like it’s got paint splotches all over it? Well it’s Matt Chapman, flying the Embry-Riddle Eagle 580. We spent some time with Matt at the El Paso Amigo Airsho and he talks about what inspired him to get into aerobatics and the path he took to become a full-time air show pilot. “I had spoken with Matt a few times before at air shows, but this was the first time we had a chance to interview him on camera to get his full story”, said Jeff Lee LiveAirShowTV President. “Matt not only takes pride in honoring those who came before him, but is always looking for ways to inspire the next generation of aviators.”

Matt is sponsored by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University which is proudly displayed on the side of his airplane. Do You Remember Your First Air Show?

PFLUGERVILLE, TX - February 6, 2012 – Do you remember going to your first air show?  Were you a kid, or was it just last year?  Was it when you took your kids for the first time?  There are almost as many stories as there are air show fans.  Over the last year, LiveAirShowTV has been asking people in the air show industry about their first show.  “This has been a fun story for everyone”, said Jeff Lee LiveAirShowTV President.  “During the course of an interview some performers would tell us about seeing something amazing at an air show as a kid.  We took that thought and started asking people about their earliest memories during almost every interview we’ve done.  A lot of them are alike, but in one way or another everyone had a specific moment when they knew they HAD to be involved in air shows in some way.”

In this first installment of an on-going series, we talked with performers Skip Stewart, Matt Chapman, John Klatt, Michael Goulian, and air show announcer Larry Strain.  No, Larry’s first air show was NOT at Kitty Hawk!  Lee said, “No matter how much time had passed, every person’s eyes lit up and that excitement returns as if it was yesterday.”

There will be more “episodes” in this series in the future.  We also want to know what air show fans remember about their first air show.  Watch the video and find out how YOU can be involved in this on-going story.

Adding a Sense of Movement to Avaition photos  by originalbooner | Aviation photos can be tricky. If you put your camera onto a sports mode (if you have it) and take a picture of a plane in the sky you can end up with a photo of an airplane hanging in the middle of a blue sky. It almost looks like a model and not a real photo.  One way to get around this is to try and use some techniques to give the plane some movement. In the photo below I have slowed the shutter speed down to make the props be a little blurry. This adds some movement into the picture. There is one running gag that carries over, though. Since the video was created by simply editting out jokes, rather than reworking the soundtrack, the sound of the airliner (a jetliner, but with the sound of a piston-engined prop job) carries though.

Aircraft Becomes Historic Place from AVwebFlash Current Issue
Well, if they're going to charge property tax it might as well be a "place," and Indiana's Historic Preservation Review Board has apparently found sufficient ground to deem "Hot Stuff" -- a very rare Lockheed PV-2 Harpoon -- worthy of the National and State of Indiana Historic Registers. The aircraft may now be listed on the National Register of Historic Places, according to the group that maintains the aircraft, an honor normally reserved for historic homes, buildings or neighborhoods. The Lockheed PV-2, operated by the Indianapolis based American Military Heritage Foundation Inc. (AMHF), is thought to be one of only two currently in flying condition and the AMHF believes Hot Stuff is fit for the honor. PV-2s served during WWII as submarine hunters along the eastern seaboard and in the South Pacific. They were also used in the Empire Express bombing raids launched from the Aleutians after the Japanese occupation there (spring of 1942 to June 1943), which targeted the Japanese-held Kurile Islands, according to the AMHF. "Hot Stuff" served in an Empire Express squadron and served in the reserves but never saw combat as she was delivered to the Nave in March of 1945. Purdue graduate Ralph Johnson later saved the aircraft when he purchased a fleet as surplus from the Navy and redeployed the aircraft as crop dusters. As a flying aircraft, Hot Stuff will be making public appearances.
