PFLUGERVILLE, TX – DECEMBER 21, 2011 – As the year draws to a close, LiveAirShowTV takes a look back at some of the stories we covered throughout the year. This was our first complete year of programming and it covered the full spectrum of features, profiles, live event
archives, and show highlights. “Our fans have been watching all year long”, said LiveAirShowTV President Jeff Lee. “We are adding new fans all the time, and some may not know about the stories we posted earlier in the year. This will give our newest fans a look at the kinds of things we cover.”
The profiles include: Will Whiteside, Dr. Brent Hisey, John Penney and his daughter Heather, and Michael Goulian. Air show highlights include the Joint Service Open House, Wings Over Houston, and the El Paso Amigo Airsho. We looked at a Reno racer’s retirement, and then the tragedy and triumph at the races.
It may be the end of the year, but it’s just the beginning for what we will be covering in the weeks to
come. Red Tails, the feature film about the Tuskegee Airmen is coming out in January, and LiveAirShowTV will have interviews from some actual Tuskegee Airmen, and preview the Rise Up program as well as the film itself. More performer features will include Jason Newburg, Kirby Chambliss, Chuck Aaron and more. And we will look at the making of Air Racers 3D: Forces of Flight, set to release in the spring.
Our Facebook Fan Page is getting more active, and you can follow us on Twitter. It may be the air show off-season, but there is plenty to watch here at LiveAirShowTV!

Reno 2011 - Let The Races Begin! Thursday 9.15.11 (15 Pix) from AirPigz | I arrived at Stead Field in Reno before the sun came up this morning (Thursday) and I had a feeling that there'd be some good stuff to see as the sun was rising. LiveAirShowTV Profiles Reno Air Racers John and Heather Penney
PFLUGERVILLE, TX – FEBRUARY 4, 2011 -- Continuing our coverage of the 2010 Reno National Championship Air Races, LiveAirShowTV profiles the father/daughter duo of John and Heather Penney. Though they are not the only racing family at Reno, these two share something very
special. “There are many stories on the ramp at Reno”, says LiveAirShowTV President Jeff Lee. “We felt like this one was a story we wanted to spend extra time on. Working with PilotMag to develop the story made for a great combination.” The story is on line now at www.LiveAirShowTV.com in the left-hand column on the home page.
PilotMag featured the Penney’s in their last two issues of 2010. Once those stories were published, we got to work on combining the two into one. Special thanks also goes out to Don “Bucky” Dawson for the great historical racing shots, and to John’s wife Stephanie for the priceless family photos.
Rare Bear is an established Reno favorite, but Heather’s plane Raju Grace enjoyed success in its first year. With John likely to step aside as the Bear’s driver, it looks like Heather will now carry the torch around the pylons in the future.
Check out what’s new from PilotMag at www.pilotmag.com. More information on Rare Bear is available at www.rarebear.com. Information on Raju Grace can be found at www.airrace21.com. More of Bucky Dawson’s photos can be seen in the Air Racing Forums at www.aafo.com.
More stories are in the works from Reno, as well as several of the aerobatic performers we talked to during our Texas Tour in October of 2010. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter. Links for both are available on the home page at www.LiveAirShowTV.com.

Looks Like Top Gun 2 Is Cleared For Takeoff — All Thanks To Larry Ellison's Son from TechCrunch by MG Siegler | Of all the movies made in the 1980s, Top Gun is definitely one of the best. It has everything you need in a movie: California, drinking, jets, tragedy, Kenny Loggins, cheesy one-liners, and, of course, volleyball. And it's about to take flight once again. Yes, just like another 80s classic, Wall Street, the products/director behind the project are said to be prepping for a sequel (hopefully one better than the Wall Street sequel which was meh). Flying coal - The Berlin airlift from Diamond Pilots
HEROISM, geopolitics and new technology make an ideal mixture for a popular historian. The story of the Berlin airlift in 1948-49 has all that and more. The Anglo-American decision to circumvent the arbitrary Soviet closure of road and rail routes to the German capital marked the start of the cold war. For the first time, the Western allies were signalling their willingness to resist the creeping Soviet takeover of the eastern half of Europe. The airlift's end, with Soviet acceptance of a new West German currency in West Berlin, was a stalemate that remained in place in Europe until the collapse of communism 40 years later. ...

Harrison Ford looks like an action hero from one of his movies as he scrambles over the top of his Bell 407 helicopter at this small California airport. Movie Monday - January 11 - 707 Year One from Flightblogger by Jon Ostrower
Movie Monday returns this week with a stroll down nostalgia lane and a look at the first year of service for the Boeing 707 in 1959. 50 years after it was produced, we take for granted how jet travel transformed how quickly we can move across the planet. The narrator talks of the time between points shrinking by half, making cross-country commuting a reality to "be home by dinner" on the West Coast after having lunch in New York. An act that has become a regular part of our lives in 2010 was an unequivocal transformation in how people move by the beginning of 1960.
The video also covers the flight testing of the 707-320 Intercontinental and high-speed 720, as well as the MATS 707 tasked with transporting President Eisenhower overseas.
Unfortunately, the user who uploaded this series of videos disabled embedding so I cannot post them directly here on FlightBlogger. However, I have provided the links below in five 7-8 minute parts. Definitely worth taking the time to watch today. Enjoy!
